Our house is completely renovated to very high standard and fully furnished to make it a very comfortable stay, it has two private patio area's which overlook a beautiful 17th century church. It is in a small village 2mls from the town of bled with its stunning lake and medieval castle perched on a cliff top over looking the crystal clear lake. There many fine restaurants and local hostelries, and you can escape the hustle and bustle back at our house which is nestled in a quite village with its own country charm. An ideal base to start walks around the 'TRIGLAV' National Park and the world famous Vintgar Gorge (1.5km away).

The house is set amongst mountains and emerald rivers on the edge of Bled, at the tail end of the Alps and in the Triglav national park which borders on Italy and Austria only minutes away from 5 different skiing areas. A 25 minute drive from Slovenia's International Brnik Airport. Many water sports such as white water rafting, kayaking, canyoning are on your doorstep. In winter try the skiing or cross country skiing at the nearby resorts of unspoilt and uncrowded snow guranteed Bled and Kranska gora.

Notes: The House has 6 main beds but can accommodate two extra small children if required. The house is very well equipped and furnished to a high standard. Its setting is very peaceful but on the doorstep is the lively and sophisticated town of Bled. In summer it is a cool oasis away from the high temperatures of mid summer but has Underfloor heating to keep away the cold when it snows in Winter. relax on the 2 patios with a BBQ and fully child proof railings and enjoy the mountain splendour. Should you have any problems there will be 24hr management at hand. Airport pick-ups can be arrange and a variety of tours or activities can be arranged to make your stay one that you will want to repeat. In winter you can enjoy world class skiing at Kranska Gora and 5 other ski resorts within 30 mins

Whitewater Rafting and watersports, skiing: Some of the best high thrill water activities are to be found in Slovenia, all within 30 mins of the house a comprehensive guide can be found at the house. For more sedate water activities there is Fly fishing and boating on Lake bled. Also within walking distance there is the world famous VINTGAR GORJE a spectacular River cut gorge with many waterfalls and Emerald green water Takes approx 2.5 hrs to walk it on well formed footpaths, a walk for any ability.

Mountains and the great outdoors: Being in the TRIGLAV NATIONAL PARK you can explore the mountain range from steady flat paths to over night hostel walks encompassing the summit at over 8000ft. Lovely wooded walks and waterfalls by the bucket load!! Of course there is the skiing in winter with a good range of beginner and intermediate slopes and some off piste to rival the larger European areas with the addition of World championship cross country tracks only 10 min away. Without the Queue's of most top European resorts!!! Bled and the surrounding area is spoilt for choice when it comes to golf, with fabulous par 72 courses in bled and scenery to make you gasp.! They have great facilities including restaurants and well stocked pro shops.

Eating out and Entertainment: Bled can offer you mouth watering food and exquisite setting for all budgets, from pizza's to ala carte. Mix with the jet set and celebrities at the casino or take a picnic at the castle overlooking lake Bled.

Other Activities: Whitewater rafting, kayaking, canyoning,climbing,abseiling.

The house is very well equipped and suitable for families with young childrens. Location is great for Bled area. The vilage is quite with wonderfull scenery. We enjoyed the place very much and will recommend it.

Perfect Base for Family

Just returned from a fantastic two week holiday in Slovenia. Myself, my husband and our 4 children (ages 6 - 14) loved Church View. The holiday incorporated our wedding in Bled and a two night stay for us newlyweds in the Hotel Toplice whist our parents looked after the kids!

After the wedding we chilled out and toured the beautiful countryside, visiting many of the places the previous review mentioned.

Vintgar is a must, we visited after thunderstorms so the river was raging. We all loved the summer toboggan rides, both in Bled and Kranjska Gora.

We found Bohinj enchanting, the lake slightly colder than Bled but lovely little beaches around the shores (beware of parking on the roadside 40euro ticket!! - it wasn't clear that no parking allowed and rows of other parked vehicles add to the confusion- wow the local gov. must make a fortune each year!!). We took the gondola lift up Vogel, lovely views. Also walked up to Slap Sava (?) the waterfall at the far side of the lake.
Postojna caves and Predjama Castle are well worth visiting.
We also visited the coast, Portoroz has nice sandy beach (busy, but the kids don't care all the want is sea and sand!), drove along into Croatia and had a picnic on a rocky beach and paddled in the warm Adriatic Sea.
Visited Italy and Austria too, although loved travelling back 'home' into Slovenia each time.
Bled is the most beautiful place we have ever seen and are so glad we married there. All of our guests stated the wedding was like a fairytale and thouroghly enjoyed the day.
Eating in Bled was reasonable and the portions huge so the children shared the meals. Fresh friut, veg and bread was cheap and tasty from the supermarkets and yes, the 1 euro a bottle of wine is perfect for drinking on the balcony each night whilst gazing at the stars!

All in all a great holiday, relaxing at Church View and visiting the many many beautiful sights Slovenia has to offer.

Perfect Mountain Retreat

What a wonderful 2 weeks we spend at Chruch view, and you cant get much closer to the Church!! The bells the bells I thought, but no just 2110hrs every night as we sat round the kitchen table drinking local wine at 1 euro for a litre!!
We must have visited most of Slovenia on out visit, Vintgar gorge a lovely 45 minute walk, well worth it and fortuna Gostilna on the way back provided a cheap and wholesome meal of typical Slovene Fare.
Bled itself is a dream,Bled cream cake on the terrace overlooking the lake was a pleasure we shared more than once.
The Toboggan ride was excellent too 6 euros, take the chair lift up the mountain and experience a wonderful view of Bled and the mountains, then come down at 40kph on a toboggan, wow....if you just want the views the Chair lift is 3 euros.
Bohinj is a must, so serene, very cold swimming, take ther cable car up Vogel and get a birds eye view of Triglav. The gostilna on the top is very welcoming, with the boar sausage being very tasty and Cheap.
We also went to Portoroz and Piran, about 2 hours away, again well worth the Trip, especially Piran which has maintained its charm, whilst here we made a 122km trip to Venice.
Kranska Gora and the Vrsic pass with a stop at Bovec for white water river rafting were also completed in our 2 weeks, and the beautiful Most na Soci .
Ljubjlana is a wonderful capital City, very easy to drive into and park, the wonderful Market is a must and the cable car up to the Castle for wonderful views of the city, make sure you find time to call at Tivoli park.
If you want shopping then Kranj is the place to go take the turn just off the Motorway for Kranj and before you get to the city there is a couple of shopping centres, one having a large hypermarket (interspar, excellent self service restaurant try the salad bar, about 4 euros for a big dish!) the other having a giant Merkator.

The house itself was perfect and well equipped, though we didnt spend very long in it! there was so much to see, our guide Tina was very helpful and on call should we have needed her, a car is essential though.

We cant wait to return
