4 new, bright, sunny, luxury apartments each with balcony / terrace & panoramic mountain views. Thoughtfully fitted out, the flats are extremely comfortable with underfloor heating, flat screen TVs / DVDs, pool table & ping pong table in the basement & communal garden. The area is a paradise for outdoor activities lovers with 3 ski areas visible from the flats - Kranjska Gora (5 minute drive), Ratece (2 mins) & Tarvisio-Monte Lussari in Italy(20 mins), a large Nordic skiing centre & a world cup ski jump a few minutes drive away. 7 more ski resorts are within 30-60 mins drive. In Summer there is a wealth of superb mountain walking nearby as well as other sports including mountain biking, horse-riding, swimming (2 local pools) and a Summer sledging piste. Alternatively just taking in the view from the sunny balconies is highly recommended! The house is on the edge of a wonderful rustic Slovenian village with 4 excellent restaurants, bar and supermarket in walking distance.

The famous Tamar Valley (home of the world famous Planica ski jump centre) is just a few minutes away & a breathtaking place for walking, as it the whole Triglav National park accessible from Kranjska Gora. Watersports on the Soca river are easily accessible for daytrips as are the famous lakes at Bohinj & Bled. As for skiing it is easily possible to ski a different resort every day for a week [Kranjska Gora / Ratece (Slo) - 5 mins, Tarvisio (IT) - 20 mins, Arnoldstein (Aus) - 30mins, Kanin, Vogel & Krvavec (Slo), Sella Nevea (It), Gerlitzen & Nassfeld (Aus) - 60mins]. Ski: Villa Planina is just a 5 min drive from the resort of Kranjska Gora, Slovenia's stunning and best known ski area with annual world cup ski jumping events at Planica (2km from the house) and & slalom events at the Podkoren area of the resort (3km from the house). In the Kranjska Gora area there are an abundance of tourist facilities, from restaurants to bars, shops, spas & pools. Villa Planina is a fantastic base for exploring the wide variety of skiing in the region in Slovenia, Austria & Italy. It is easily possible to ski a different resort every day for a week [Kranjska Gora / Ratece (Slo) - 5 mins, Tarvisio (IT) - 20 mins, Arnoldstein (Aus) - 30mins, Kanin, Vogel & Krvavec (Slo), Sella Nevea (It), Gerlitzen & Nassfeld (Aus) - 60mins] and the various ski areas offer a wide range of beginner to advanced level and off piste skiing and other Winter sports. There is a fantastic nordic ski centre with a range of trails within walking distance of the house.

Other Activities: Nordic skiing, sledging plus learn to drive sled dogs at a local school!

Wonderful place to pass your hollidays.. grate time... near the best ski center of Kranjska Gora.. Near to Tarvisio.. Near to Villach... great places to wisit arround during the day, sleaping always at the same place... lot of fun.. relaxing and very clean place... So kind people... I had so great time only in Villa Planina in Ratece, easy to reach, great to stay in..

We had a fantastic time here, we loved the apartment and it's location. We would definitely like to stay here again some time. It's very quiet and peaceful with beautiful views. It is a great place to come to get away from it all in a rural village full of flowers. We would recommend it to people who like peace and quiet and do not want any night-life on their doorstep. It is not far from Kranska Gora by car if you want more touristy type shops and facilities and it's great for walking and cycling.

We were travelling in Slovenia without our own car and we were surprised, how easy and cheap it was to get everywhere by bus. The apartment we had chosen was even better than we expected. It was well-located and clean, everything worked without problems. And the view! From every window we could watch the mountains and wonder, if this really is true or not. Even thoug the village was small, we could buy food or eat in a restaurant there. For party animals we would probably recommend another destination, at least in summer. But for an active (sport) holiday the village with its surroundings is a perfect choice. No doubt, we´ll surely recommend this place for everyone looking for an adventure in an unbelievable nature and close to the local people. For one week we didn´t feel like "normal" tourists, but like part of the life this nice village.

Modern, clean villa in perfect location!

I was thoroughly impressed with Vila Planina. We rented the ground and first floor apartments, which provided very clean, modern, and comfortable accomodation.
The quaint farm village of Ratece was stunning and our proximity to Kranskja Gora (7km, 10 minute drive), Lake Bled (30 minute drive), and Ljubljana (1 hr drive) was just perfect.
I highly reccommend this villa to anyone seeking an authentic Slovenian, country-side experience with great access to all the major sites.
I also found Think Slovenia to be extremely helpful, accomodating, and an overall pleasure to work with.
