Hermanus is a picturesque little village. It has a buzzy feel about it and is friendly and safe. The village sits on the top of a cliff overlooking Walker Bay, the breeding ground of the Southern Right Whales. The Whale festival, complete with town cryer takes place between the 23rd and 26th September, as these glorious mammals return to give birth to their little ones. At Easter you can enjoy the Passion play which is enacted around the old harbour. The world famous Hamilton Russell vineyard is nearby as are several interesting golf courses, including Arabella and Hermanus itself. There are numerous little restaurants in the Hermanus which is just 5 mins drive away as well as a local restaurant in Onrus within walking distance. There is a vibrant street market every Saturday and other activities include mountain biking, fishing and cage diving at Gaansbaai. The beautiful Franschhoek Valley, Stellenbosch and Cape Town are all within an hour or so from us.
