Knysna and surroundings:
KNYSNA VILLAGE Cradled between the majestic Outeniqua mountains and the rugged Southern Cape coastline and surrounded by indigenous forests, Knysna still manages to project a 'village' atmosphere with numerous arts and craft shops and museums.
It also offers adventure sports such as canoeing, abseiling, creaking, hiking, biking, fishing, diving, paragliding, fishing and many others. Wine and dine your way through a formidable array of fine restaurants, seafood taverns, pubs, coffee shops and eateries. A delectable specialty is the oysters which are cultivated in Knysna lagoon. KNYSNA HEADS Where the sea enters Knysna lagoon is one of the most dramatic and scenic spots in the Garden Route. See it from above and below. BEACHES The Garden Route has been blessed with beautiful sandy beaches. Spend a day exploring or sunbathing. There are many wonderful spots for sea swimming or watching WHALES & DOLPHINS along the coastline all year round (but best time from May to October).
Airports and transport:
George: 80 km
Port Elisabeth: 280 km
Cape Town: 500 km
Climate and nature:
Knysna enjoys a moderate climate all year round. Lowest rainfall occurs during winter; the yearly average is 770 mm. The average temperature in January is 26º Celsius and during the winter months (June-August) fall to about 18º Celsius - still ideal conditions for outdoors activities!
The Indian Ocean at Knysna is much warmer than the sea water in Cape Town; even in winter there are many days where you can go swimming.
From waking in the morning to the calls of Knysna's famous bird life with a beautiful view of the lagoon and mountains beyond.
And lazing in our garden is such a pleasure as you will be surrounded by a lush, green tropical setting with ample shade or sun with the peaceful sounds of nature and bird calls all around.

What a fantastic home you have.We were very comfortable and felt very relaxed from the moment we arrived. The pool was great and our son spent most of his time in it. We all agree that this was the best holiday ever!!Thank you so much again for letting us use your home–we will definitely try to come and stay again in the not too distant future.(Albertyn 1/2009) We very much enjoyed staying in your home.Within a few minutes of walking in the door we knew that we had all the comforts of home at our finger tips. What a joy to find a fully equipped home instead of a house with the basic equipment. It was very easy to see that it was a very much loved house and as such, contained everything we could possibly need and so much more. What a joy to find nice big fluffy towels and a teapot! We enjoyed the privacy and seclusion of the pool and patios and had a very relaxing week due totally to the fact that we felt so comfortable.Thank you very much for letting us share your home.(Oliver 2/2007)
Golf:
Welcome to the 'Golfing Mecca' of South Africa. There are no fewer than 8 top class golf courses between Plettenberg Bay and George, including the new links course at Fancourt and Pezula/Sparrebosch, South Africa's postcard to golf. In addition to this, 9 mashie golf courses have also been established in this 'golfing route'.
Just a note to say thank you – your house was lovely and we had a wonderful two weeks holiday. Everyone was so kind and helpful. Lying by the pool was so relaxing and your guides and brochures were really helpful. The men golfed at the local course and Simola, we visited the Heads and Buffalo Bay, went on the steam train from George to Hartenbos, drove through Phantom Pass. Ate out regularly in the wonderful restaurants of Kynsna (put on rather too much weight)! as the food and wine were too tempting.
I can see why you love the location and the house – it is truly idyllic and hopefully we will return again. (Watson 2-3/2007)
