'Far Away' Beach House is spacious, detached and recently decorated and furnished to a high standard. Large living area, light and airy. Beautiful gardens and swimming pool, BBQ area and two sun decks with ocean and mountain views. On the doorstep are unpolluted seas and beaches, nature reserves, golf courses, local wineries and coastal walks ideal for whale spotting! Ideally situated for exploring the Cape and visiting Cape Town or just relaxing!

Our South African home is located just over an hour away from Cape Town in Vermont. This is a peaceful area on the outskirts of Hermanus, the whale watching capital of the world, famous for it's champagne air and wonderful climate. Hermanus has it's own beautiful wine valley with world famous wineries, great for relaxing lunches and, of course, tastings! The sea and coastal walk, rich in indigenous flora, is a few minutes walk away. Excellent local restaurants, golf courses and wonderful unspoilt beaches.

Golf and Activities: Within ten minutes is the Arabella Estate with its famous golf course, restaurants, pool and spa. Hermanus has its own golf club with reasonable day rates. There are also sports clubs, bike hire, boat trips, watersports and wonderful walks in the Overberg Mountain Nature Reserve with its unique fynbos and protea and bird watching. Shark cage diving is available in nearby Gansbaai. Shopping in Hermanus is a delight with art galleries, crafts and markets. The excellent restaurants cater for all tastes, including 'line fish of the day'! For fine wines visit the wonderful local wineries!

Whale Watching: Without doubt the main attributes of Hermanus are its natural surrounds with spectacular views of Walker Bay where, from July to early December, the Southern Right Whales come to give birth and frolic in the waters often very close to shore.

We have a local agent who will welcome you on arrival and be happy to answer any of your queries and arrange a 'welcome pack' and extra cleaning (at your cost) if required.

we rented this in jan 2008, the house was spotless, large, light and airy. Kitchen was modern and all rooms were well furnished, bathrooms were modern with great showers. you do definately need a car to get around, but i would fully recommend it for a large family or group of friends.

Luxury and great location

We stayed in the property for nearly a month early in 2007 and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The location is a few minutes walk from the rocky coastline. There are a couple of small beaches nearby and also a nature reserve which is great for walking.

On arrival - the property manager met us and showed us how to use various appliances and was always available via telephone to give advice and assistance.

The property was very clean and the quality of the furnishings were excellent. The linen, crockery and cutlery were also of good quality.

The gardens and pool were well maintained.

The only negative is that there was another villa blocking most of the view of the coast.

We had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend the property and would like to return. One of the best properties we have stayed in.
Owner's Response: We feel it fair to say that there are uninterrupted views to the coast from the main sitting areas and bedroom. The kitchen/dining area overlooks our garden and neighbouring villa.
