La Paloma is a new development of luxury houses built next to the Blouberg beach conservation area, 30 mins north of Cape Town on the Atlantic coast side of the Western Cape. The beach is a protected area of outstanding beauty, hosting miles of indigenous fynbos, the Cape's uniquely diverse flora and home to a range of bird and animal life. The beach is a favourite haunt of windsurfers, kite surfers and all those who seek kicks on the waves, although the sheer joy of visiting this beach remains its miles of deserted sand. The occasional early morning jogger is still unlikely to meet more than a couple of dog walkers - even at the height of the season. Local shops, restaurants and bars are close by at Blouberg village and Melkbos. Blouberg is home to some exceptional eateries, whilst Melkbos also has restaurants, cafes and a small range of shops and grocery stores. Cape Town, with its unrivalled choice of musical, culinary, fashion and leisure pursuits is a 30 min drive away..
Local activities diving, surfing, swimming, tennis, walking, sailing, cycling, fishing, horse riding, golf, wind-surfing, mountain biking, mountaineering

The twin bedroom has 2 single beds, which can be pushed together and has access to a sandstone tiled shower/wet room and private WC. It also has patio doors accessing the pool area. There is a pay-as-you-go telephone and double garage. The lounge and dining area has a real open fire - perfect for entertaining. There is a built-in external BBQ on the terrace by the pool. More seating and loungers can be found in the landscaped garden. The small pool is refreshing natural salt-water and perfect for a cooling dip, rather than 20 lengths before breakfast! La Paloma is a safe and friendly area. The house has a full 24 hour security system. |
Stellenbosch
South Africa's famous winelands are centred around Stellenbosch, an historic university town some 40 minutes drive away from Blouberg. Organised tours of the wineries can be arranged. Otherwise, visitors can spend a leisurely day driving from estate to estate, sampling the produce and discovering new favourites along the way. No tour of the wineries would be complete without a lunchtime stop in Franschoek, acknowledged as the gastronomic epicentre of the Cape. If driving, remember to save the serious tasting for back in Blouberg as South Africa's drink driving laws are just as tough as at home!
Cape Town
So much has been written about this cosmopolitan town that suffice to say, there is something here for everyone. We love its fabulous and vibrant restaurants, exceptional shopping and unique cultural experiences. Our not-to-b-missed favourites include: Eating: Balducci's Japanese salad at the Waterfront and Madam Zingara's chocolate chilli steaks on Long Street. Robben Island: the infamous prison where Nelson Mandela was held is a day trip away by boat.
Other Activities Wildlife/game reserves, winelands
Golf Information:
The Atlantic Beach Golf Club is next door to La Paloma. The qualifiers for the European Open were held at this course. It is spread along the coast and is set within a secure residential estate. Temporary golf passes can be arranged at the club house. There are numerous other good golf courses all around the Cape Town area.
