Places to holiday in Alicante, Spain

The town of Alicante itself is a lovely town. Boasting a beautiful beach and long promenade, Alicante’s Explanada de Espana is a great place to meet for a drink or meal, which backs onto the town’s nightlife area, La Zona. The city retains a relaxed rural feel due to the vast areas of parks and open spaces. Canelejas Park is a great place to relax away from the beaches.

El Campello is an old town given a new birth by the growth of tourism in Alicante due to the cheap flights available. The old town is a mine of culture, with the old town Hall and House of Culture and many art galleries. However, the smell of fresh sea food will quickly draw you to the magnificent marina, with the beautiful backdrop of the Mediterranean. The Narrow Gorge Railway is a day trip on a romantic little train up to the resorts of Denia, Calpe and Benidorm.

An Alicante villa in Mutxamel is right on the Costa Blanca, and is surrounded by beaches and golf courses. It is a magnificent resort with modern facilities. Much of the Alicnate accommodation here are luxury villas with pools or luxury apartments.

Things to do on an Alicante, Spain holiday

The beaches are blissful in Alicante. Some are wide, busy and will all the facilities for water sports and beach life, others are quiet and secluded, and others have sheer cliffs at the back, and rock outcrops for climbing.

There are some beautiful natural spots around the Alicante region. The Parque del Oueste and Parque del Morant and the hugely beautiful Palmeral all have huge areas of indigenous landscape and large leisure areas for walking, mini golf courses, bowls areas, large chess boards, and parks for skateboarding and cycling.

An Alicante villa is perfectly situated for sport. There is a rich sporting culture in Alicante, and there are a large number of facilities, including the Tossal Sports Park, plenty of golf courses (including the Playa de San Juan golf course)
