This stunning penthouse duplex faces the Mediterranean on arguably the most spectacular piece of south eastern Spain's coast. It is just 40 minutes drive north of Alicante. The property is on the third and top floors and sits right on the seafront above Bahia Altea. It is exceptionally light, spacious and airy. Picture windows from the living/dining area and the master suite give uninterrupted sea views and there areg orgeous mountain views to the back. The master bedroom with en suite and one twin with its own bathroom are upstairs under high ceilings into the roof space. Another twin is downstairs. There is a fourth bedroom / TV snug with futon to accommodate a nanny or au pair. The kitchen is well-equipped and there is a gas barbecue for long lunches and dinners on the lower terrace. The two sunny, private terraces give 70sq m of outdoor living space and have breathtaking views of the bay. They catch the sun from early morning, with awnings providing shade when required.

The duplex is directly on the coast with magnificent, uninterrupted views of the Mediterranean and stunning Moro de Toix and Albir headlands around the Bahia de Altea. Although within easy reach of luxury resort facilities, it is a very private and tranquil location. It is about 5km north of Altea on the Costa Blanca. There are sandy and pebble beaches nearby, fishing ports with fish markets open to the public, marinas, lots of snorkeling locations, dive schools and mountains. Alicante is only 45 minutes away and Valencia 90 minutes from Pueblo Mascarat. Mundo Mar, Spain's answer to Sea World, and Aqualandia, a water theme park, are less than half-an-hour away. Javea, Denia, and Moraira are within easy reach. The Jalon valley inland is picturesque and the Moorish stronghold of Guadelest is a fantastic day trip. There are several beautiful coves with clear, turquoise water for swimming nearby and sandy beaches minutes away.

In order to allow our visitors to take advantage of cheaper mid-week flights, we are flexible about changeover days whenever possible. Normally the apartment must be vacated by 10 am on the day of departure and it is not usually available before 4pm on day of arrival to allow servicing. However, we will try to accommodate your requests for earlier arrival and later departure so that you can make the most of your arrival / departure days - as long as these are agreed in advance.

Notes to the rental rates

  • To confirm your holiday, a non-refundable deposit of 25% must be made at the time of booking. The remaining payment (non-refundable) must be received eight weeks before arrival or your reservation may be lost.
    At this time a security deposit of £250 is payable. It will be refunded within 10 working days of return of the keys less any deductions for losses or breakages. We trust our guests to inform us of any loss, damage or breakage.
    The final clean is included in our rates. If you use the barbecue, we will charge you to clean the it unless you prefer to clean it yourselves ready for the next guest. Thank you.

  • The bathrooms are luxurious with ceramic tiled floors, marble and limestone walls and surfaces, illuminated mirrors and fluffy bath mats. Each one also has a toilet and a bidet. Upstairs bedroom 1 is a master suite with an ensuite bathroom with bath, shower and two basins. You can step straight out onto a private terrace from there. Bedroom two has its own bathroom next door, again with a full bath and shower with a glass screen. Bedroom 3 and bedroom 4/snug are downstairs and share another large bathroom with bath, shower and two basins with large mirrors.

  • The master bedroom has a high sloping ceiling into the roof space and a luxury en suite bathroom with a full bath, screened shower cubicle, toilet and bidet. It has two basins set in limestone and a large, illuminated mirror. You can step straight from the bedroom onto the upper, south-facing, completely private terrace with uninterrupted sea views. The second bedroom also has a high sloping ceiling and twin beds. It has wonderful mountain views of the Mascarat Gorge. It has a small balcony which looks down onto the closest of the three communal swimming pools. It also provides a view of summer sunsets. It has its own luxury bathroom next door. The third bedroom is downstairs, is equipped with twin beds and has a view of mountains. Bedroom four, used as a TV room and snug is equipped with a futon. Again, the views are of the mountains and the swimming pool. The two downstairs bedrooms share a bathroom with bath, twin basins set in limestone, illuminated mirrors, toilet and bidet.

Notes:

The front door opens into an airy entrance hall. A utility room houses the washing machine, boiler for hot water on demand and a sink for washing beach wear. The price includes the final clean ready for the next guests but more frequent cleaning or a daily maid service can be arranged and paid for locally. The rattan and hardwood furniture and cotton fabrics have a light holiday feel. There is plenty of parking and a garage could be rented separately if required. The hot water is available on demand from a gas boiler. Air conditioning keeps the place cool in summer and warm in the winter. The minimum of air conditioning is needed thanks to the airy design and sea breezes. A Weber gas barbecue is perfect for cooking fish straight from the market. There is a charge for cleaning the barbecue if you choose to use it.. Our duplex is wonderful for children but not equipped with stair gates, safety locks or cots for toddlers.

What is where?

The communal facilities include 3 swimming pools and 2 paddle tennis courts. There is a good restaurant for lunch and dinner and a cafe a couple of minutes walk away. The pebble beach below has a beach bar in season. The marina in the bay below has cafes, restaurants and bars and a diving school. Sailing and motorboat charter is also available. The supermarket is a few minutes drive away with a bank and newsagent. The exclusive five star resort facilities of Altea Hills are a few minutes drive away and offer indoor and outdoor pools, a Jacuzzi, sauna, squash, clay court tennis, gym, terrace cafe, bars and restaurants. The recently completed Villa Gadea has a truly wonderful Thalasso spa with pools and treatments. The beautiful and historic villages and national parks inland are within easy reach by car. Mundo Mar, a sort of Spanish sea world, water theme park Aqualandia and theme park Terra Mitica are all less than half-an-hour's drive away.

We had a wonderful time at your beautiful apartment. The view is spectacular. The linens and towels were great. We really loved the beautiful view and fresh air coming from the sea. The place was perfect for us. I wish we could have stayed there longer (A.C). It doesnt get any more front line than this. (WW). The view is to die for. Yours is the best apartment we have rented.
