Things to do:
Javea has a choice of beaches for those seeking water sports such as wind surfing, jet biking or sailing. The warm seas are perfect for diving, snorkeling and water skiing. Go-karting and quad- biking are also available close by. Football fans can be in Valencia in just over an hour and with golf, tennis, bowls etc- you name it and it's never too far away. Apart from the sporting activities there is plenty for the kids to do should they get bored with the beaches. Places to go:
There are plenty of interesting places to visit. To the north Denia is the nearest town and boasts an excellent array of shops, a large port area, a 17th century castle and an excellent array of pavement bars and restaurants. Denia can be reached by either a short drive over the Montgo Mountain or by glass-bottomed boat from Javea port when you can enjoy a trip to the Marine Reserve on the way. Calpe rock lies to the south and is famous for its fish restaurants, port and beach. It is interesting to watch the fishing boats unload their catches. Just inland is the beautiful Jalon Valley and beyond this are the wonderful mountains leading to Guadalest one of the most popular tourist sites and a place not to be missed by any visitor. It is a 16th century Moorish castle town built into the surrounding rock and you enter the town through a gateway tunnelled through the mountain. Nearby are pretty waterfalls where you can swim in the cool mountain waters, blissful on a hot summer day.
Golf:
The Costa Blanca has many renowned golf courses of which 5 are less than an hours drive. Javea itself has 2 – the internationally renowned 18-hole course La Sella which is less than 20 minutes away and a 9-hole course which is more difficult than it looks and has superb views of the 'landmark' Montgo mountain. There are further 9-hole courses at Moraira and Altea and a new 18-hole Seve Balesteros designed course at Oliva around 30 minutes away. There are also very good courses at Valencia and Alicante, in particular the famous 18-hole championship links course at El Saler, for those who don’t mind a drive before a round.
