On Holiday to celebrate a Ruby Wedding Anniversary (18 in party)

Huge house that is child friendly, yet has all the facilities that are required for a wonderful stress free holiday in the sun.

The porch is large enough to accommodate 18+ people although we have had a 100 to eat on it on a long table, it also and provides welcome shade during the day.

The pool is fantastic with all the children in the party preferring it to the beach!

Bedrooms are large and adequately equipped. Great BBQ

The owner Sam is welcoming and friendly, nothing seems to much trouble.

The restaurant nearby about 5 mins by car they do

Fabulous holiday with enough space, sun and fun for all

A great villa, providing plenty of space for our group of 18 people. The house is huge, with a verrandah running along the whole front of the property, with lots of tables and chairs, giving a view over the swimming pool, tennis court and gardens. The swimming pool was an excellent size and accomodated all the water games etc. with plenty of sunbeds around the perimeter. The pool was well used and provided a welcome cool down form the midday sun! It was lovely to have the facility for everyone to enjoy the pool, and not be crowding each other at all. Cooking proved easier than we imagined, due perhaps to the brilliant built in barbeque on the verrandah and plenty of fridges to store food and of course beers and wine to help us along the way!

The area is lovely and old Elche town proved very interesting to those who explored it (it was also a carnival celebration week). We went to the beach one day but honestly we were just happy to enjoy each others company at the villa. Sam, the owner is a great guy and is always available if you need anything. I would have no hesitation in recommending this place, we all had a superb time, and we may well be back!!!

La Carrasca, ElcheVisit date 22nd July 2007 – 5th August 2007 (14 nights)Number in Party 17 (9 adults, 8 children ages 15,14,13,11,10,4,3,3) We arrived at dusk on a Sunday night and I think everybody in the party were a little concerned as to how remote we seemed to be. We were wrong. The villa is in a peaceful countryside location but you can be within the hustle and bustle of Elche in a few minutes.Once everyone had had a look around Sam sat with us on the porch whilst we had a drink and he went through some general housekeeping and advised us of the nearest supermarkets, beaches, hospital etc

.The next morning we found the supermarket easily from Sam’s directions and we were relieved that we weren’t as far from civilisation as it appeared the previous night. Once we got our bearings and familiar with the roads we realised the villa is ideally situated.Whilst there we visited Alicante, Guardamar, Santa Pola, and Aqua Park Ciudad Quesada in Rojales. All were easy to find and only a short drive from the Villa. The best beach was Guardamar although the sea was a bit rough for the younger children. We had a couple of days in the old part of Elche on the east of the river; there were plenty of shops, bars and café’s.The villa itself is lovely. We found it exceeded our expectations and was more than big enough; one of the bedrooms wasn’t used. We only ate out twice, as cooking didn’t seem a chore, there were plenty of olive logs in the grounds which make ideal BBQ fuel. The kitchen is adequately equipped and on the nights we didn’t BBQ cooking for 17 wasn’t a problem as there is plenty of equipment. All the bedrooms were spacious and well equipped with adequate wardrobe space, fan, anti-mosquito machines and some had televisions. The bathrooms are large, clean and have new toilets, bidets and showers, 2 of the bathrooms have baths as well. The lounge and dining area is huge, although we ate and spent evenings on the porch the older children used to sit inside and watch DVD’s or listening to music. The swimming pool area was clean and the pool itself is plenty big enough, there were 17 of us and it never seemed full. The tennis court was also well used. Sam came every few days to clean the pool and check we were ok. The villa is located in the countryside and there are some nice walks to be found from the villa, there was even a mountain bike that we could use. We did walk to L’aljub shopping centre twice and it took about 45 – 50 minutes.

Group of 22 from London

Review Submitted: October 7, 2011 Date of Stay: August 2011
We were a huge group of 22 (plus a further 2 that joined us for the last week). Kids ranging from 6-17yrs. We wanted a place big enough for all of us and it did not disappoint. The place was so well laid out (and spread out) that we hardly felt the impact of so many. Luckily, the verandah was long enough to seat us all as we ate our evening meals together. The rooms were more than adequate with shared bathrooms. There is only one room in the house that is en-suite, as well as the 2 studio apartments by the pool. It did feel that all we did was cook, eat, cook, eat but at least the meals were of banquet quality - the 2 cookers, sinks, fridges and the BBQ all helped to meet our needs. We managed to get out every few days - despite the comfort of chilling by the pool but Elche Town and Carrefour became our regular haunts. The house is very rural and you do need a car - don't think about calling out a cab. There were a few of us who went for walks in the surrounding area and all of us enjoyed a game of tennis - even managed to coordinate a rounders match of two with the adults & kids. Were there any downsides?? Not really - you have to remember you are in a hot country so it will have wasps, spiders, mosquitos and in this country, Spanish-speaking people (why should they speak English as some reviewers have complained about!!). Top tips for you: Sam is great & will answer any questions and do anything to make your stay comfortable - he ran out and got us big cooking pots and a fan for us. Mop the verandah with a bit of Sam's insect repellant poured in the water, keeps the mosquitos at bay. The studio rooms can get very hot and attract more mozzies/insects - so prepare the room before going to bed. If you are covered in bites - we found snapping of a piece of aloe vera plants that grow randomly along the roadside did the trick - avoid the brown, spongy ones - they've gone off and will stink. We visited the beach Guardalamer - great fun but kids got stung by floating jellyfish remnants, try out the beach massage well worth the 20Euros. Alicante is definitely worth visiting too, especially the fort, marketstalls and beach. The waterpark in Benidorm was a good day for all and the kids will thank you for the trek there. The cost of food is no different to the UK but booze much cheaper. Really appreciated Sam (the man) for our welcome pack, much needed as we arrived early Saturday evening so a real dash to the supermarket was needed. No shops in walking distance.

Owner's Response: Im glad you had a good time and yes its HOT in August 35o or more, but October, November, March April ... cooler, very nice and we prefer these months. People come regually in December.
I have actually been on the beach at Christmas and swum. It doesnt rain much and most days are sunny. Probably closest reliable sun from England at 2 hours flight and many cities like Edinburgh have them every day with Ryan air at normally 70e or less. Canaries and Greece 4/5 hours. But Spain is hotter than the Canaries in the summer
Its all Spanish here and not hard to learn really, exercises my mind too!.
When I fly I nearly always get a taxi to the airport and costs about 30 euros and saves parking costs. Lara cars start at about 130 pw and friends us them.
The mansion is ideal for large groups with larger new beds and mattresses and 20 sunbeds around the pool and large porch with BBQ where many stay, The mansion is basic spacious accommodation with 11 large bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.

Heidi's 50th Birthday Celebrations!!!

Review Submitted: August 16, 2011 Date of Stay: August 2011

Arrived with a party of 18 ranging in ages from small children to the elderly. The house was filthy upon arrival, the bedding looked well used and I wouldnt let my dog sleep on it! Flooring dusty and dirty with loads of dead flies etc around the edges of the floor. Was told there was no problem with mosquitos, centipedes etc but we got them all. Local hotel/bar was spanish speaking only. Taxis were reallly expensive as property was outwith zone. Also shocked that their "cleaners" washed bedding on our last day in the pool! Not recommended unless you love cleaning before enjoying your holiday. Please ask if air conditioning is in every room as we only had one portable unit which was as useless as a chocolate ashtray. Worst holiday of my life.
