Places of Interest:
The nearby historic town of Denia is well worth a visit. The ancient castle remains, built into edge of the mountain, overlook the fabulous marina. There are plenty of interesting shops to visit, along with a wide choice of restaurants and Tapas bars.
Valencia, Spain's 3rd largest city, is well worth a visit for those wanting to travel a little further. It can be reached in just over an hour by car and is packed with museums, art galleries, exhibitions and churches.
Guadalest, Spain's most visited village is also about an hours drive away. A small white-washed village, it has been built into the mountain rock and provides an interested day trip.
Family Days out:
The El Vergel Safari Park is found near to Monte Pego - just a few minutes drive away. Here you can drive through the park and see lions, tigers, ostrich and zebra. On foot you can walk through the Avery, the petting yard, and see the monkeys and baboons. There are seal and parrot shows to watch and along with the rides on the Go-carts, and bounces on the trampolines for the kids, this makes a great day out.
Benidorm, which is around a 35 minute drive away, has four major Theme parks. Terra Mitiica lets you experience thrilling rides. Terra Natura, a 'global' zoo, allows the visitor to journey to Africa, America, Europe and Asia all in one day, with shows, mock-towns and views of the animals of the region on the way. Aqualandia is a large water park with pools and water chutes - try the Black Hole! And finally, Mundamar offers dolphin, seal and bird shows, along with a large variety of animals and reptiles to enjoy.
Evenings Out:
If you don't want to spend your evenings relaxing by the pool with a barbeque, there is plenty to do nearby.
The Bella Vista hotel, just a 3 minute walk away, offers fine food during the evenings. Elsewhere on Monte Pego (within a 5 minute drive) you will find an excellent Swiss restaurant, and also the acclaimed Monte Pego Restaurant, which serves fresh food and hosts a barbeque every Friday evening in July and August.
Within a 15 minute drive you will find a number of excellent restaurants serving a variety of international food or why not see a traditional Spanish Flamingo display for the evening, located just outside nearby Oliva.
For those that want to experience the 'real Spain' take a trip to the bull-ring in nearby Ondara, about a 10 minute drive away. Denia, a 25 minute drive from the villa, offers the full range of restaurants, clubs and bars that you would expect from a tourist resort.
