Further details for this holiday villa rental in Moraira, Spain

About Moraira: Once a sleepy fishing village, Moraira has grown into a small yet charming and picturesque town and yet due to strict planning laws is still very pretty and not over-developed. The main hub of life is beside the pretty yacht marina offering a good selection of restaurants and bars where you can sit outside and watch the world go by. A charming square still retains much of the original character and atmosphere and is home to the local church. There are restaurants, bars and several interesting shops lining the narrow cobbled streets. In the high season, the town comes alive in the evenings with locals and visitors alike.

The beach...: This little town also has its own popular wide, gently-shelving sandy beach with shallow waters and a smaller beach in the adjacent hamlet of El Portet. Both beaches were awarded the prestigious EEC Blue Flags for cleanliness and are safe for family bathing, both are also served by beach bars and restaurants which serve drinks, snacks and main meals. It is also well worth exploring the many other coves and bays along the coast with sand or sand/rock beaches.

Its location...: Moraira is situated at the end of a long valley. The surrounding pine-clad foothills provide both shelter from the winter weather from the north and a natural vortex for cooling summer sea breezes. Moraira’s perfect orientation provides the majority of its properties with a southerly downhill view towards the sea. The development in the area is mostly detached privately-owned villas with very few holiday apartments and no holiday package hotels whatsoever and therefore accommodation is virtually limited to privately-owned villas. Nearly all the properties are owned by Northern Europeans either as retirement or holiday homes and are spread over quite a substantial area. The well-spaced villa development does mean that a car is a necessity in most areas.

Golf: Golf Back to Top There are upwards of 12 golf courses on the Costa Blanca and 4 within easy reach of Moraira. All are affiliated to the Spanish Federation and consequently can validate members handicap internationally. All have golf clubs for hire and most, if not all can provide coaching. CLUB DE GOLF ‘IFACH’ No of Holes: 9 Par: 60. The Club de Golf Ifach course is situated on the coast road between Moraira and Calpe on the San Jaime Urbanisation in Benissa, hence surrounding views of the most prestigious properties in the area, set in a beautiful fertile valley with distant scenes of Calpe’s D’Ifach rock and sparkling blue Mediterranean sea. CLUB DE GOLF JAVEA No of Holes: 9 Par: 72. Situated between Moraira and Javea, this all year course is slightly longer and quite flat, easier to play and not so tiring in the hot summer sun. It has been attractively landscaped around the greens and also benefits from a putting green, driving range, club bar and restaurant, heated swimming pool, tennis and squash courts. CLUB DE GOLF LA SELLA - No of Holes: 18, Par: 72. On the back-road between Javea and Denia, situated inland near the area of Jesus Pobre, this course was opened in 1991 and designed to use ‘all the clubs in the bag’. Although almost totally flat it has many trees and water obstacles (canals and lakes which provide the irrigation).

Other Activities: Crazy golf, children's fun fair, go-karting, tennis, jet skiing, Friday morning market.

An amazing week, with a group hard to please!

Review Submitted: July 8, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
Well, I believe it was upon arrival that the 8 of us realised just how much we had hit the jackpot. The Villa was amazing, situated just outside the town where it was calm and peaceful, with a beautiful pool and plenty of dining/drinking areas. Lots of space to escape each other for that little bit of 'me' time, meaning that arguments were a rarity, which is odd in our group. The kitchens were well equipped, and yet still it was the barbecue that won hands down. With the outside fridge capable of freezing my Pernod and John's cider we could enjoy the warmth of the Barbecue, and the cool refreshing drinks without having to walk 10 metres.
Also, as other reviews have pointed out, the 12 minute walk to Moraira is more of a stroll. The walk is quite steep, so getting back to the villa with lots of shopping was quite a task, but we pinched a couple of shopping trolleys and dragged them up to the villa before collapsing into the pool. Of course the trolleys were returned the next morning.
Moraira is lovely, friendly and has stunning beaches. 3 blue flag beaches along one stretch, all easily reachable on foot! The food in the restaurants is lovely, and the cocktail bars are brilliant - we recommend either Captain Andy's or Carambana.

The whole week went smoothly, and everyone agreed it was great! Despite the large amounts of warnings there was only one small series of powercuts which, to many people's relief, interrupted our viewing of FLASH GORDON!

It is a lovely villa, well equipped and maintained.
Thankyou
Owner's Response: Thank you very much for the excellent review, we are very pleased you all enjoyed your stay at Casita Tranquila. We believe the walk back to the villa is not particularly steep and is easily walkable for all ages as previous years have proved, but yes there is a hill in the road leading up from the vineyards. I must say though that carrying lots of heavy shopping bags on foot or pushing a trolley full of groceries in the heat, the hill may suddenly seem like you are climbing a mountain! Thank you again and we hope we can welcome you back to Casita Tranquila some time in the not too distant future.

A super holiday.

My golfing buddies (male & female) and myself had a great time. The villa was well eqipped, in a quiet location but with easy foot access to the town. Moraira itself is as you would want a seaside town to be, great beach, clean streets, with a good variety of shops and restaurants. In short a great venue for families and friends.

My family consisting of eight adults and two babies 14mths and 8 weeks have just returned from a wonderful holiday at the Casita Tranquila Villa in Moraira on the Costa Blanca. The villa was everything we expected and more, the pool was excellent, most of our time was spent in it and the bar by the pool with the fridge was brill no having to go to the kitchen every time we wanted a cold tinny.Moraira town was a ten min walk away where there were lots of good restuarants, our favorites were the Cap D'or and the El Nido and a walk round the harbour is a must, remember to take some bread to feed the fish.
All in all one of the best holidays we have had in a long while and we will definately be going back

Very nice indeed

Mike and Nia Herts, UK
Review Submitted: August 29, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
This is a really lovely villa in a great location. It's so quiet due to the fact it’s away from any thru-roads and yet the walk into town is amazingly easy. It’s located on a bit of a hill but nothing to really moan about. One concern we had on arriving is how close it seems to be to a large fun fair in the town, but it’s far enough away for the sound not to travel.

The villa itself is bright and airy, very comfortable with a good layout. The main kitchen is upstairs so if you like your meals by the pool, then it’s a continuous stomp up and down the external steps. We found that the conservatory and first floor terrace were too hot most of the time so we chose the pool option. The outside bar area was really welcome with its fridge but it could have done with a small sink as well. The pool is really great with large steps for easy access - watch that last one though, it’s a bit of a drop!

A few areas could have made this villa even better though. The first is the wasted space of the 'grassed' part of the garden. In mid-August it was just scorched earth, and quite muddy for wet feet to pick up on when balls went astray. It takes up such a large part of the overall outside space that it really is a waste leaving quite a tight, patio area for sun beds and the like. Secondly, there wasn't really enough cutlery or crockery for 10 people. Third, there wasn't any useable cleaning equipment for residents to use to keep the place tidy. A couple of smelly old mops and a broom that's well past its useful life really didn't do the job I'm afraid. Next, the air conditioning in the two living rooms was very nice, but most of the fans in the bedrooms didn't work at all. Finally, it was strange that items such as the downstairs TV, some table top lamps, the stereo, etc weren't any where near plug points and so were all just for show. The TV upstairs had access to very few channels, certainly nothing to keep children entertained, and there was just a general feeling that there was no owner making the place feel welcome and finished.

I've spent a lot of time talking about these negatives and although they are useful to know about, they shouldn't get in your way of renting this villa for your holiday. Its size, layout and location all out-weigh any small gripes and our mixed-age group were all very happy with it. Enjoy.
Owner's Response: Thank you for your review which is greatly appreciated and we are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Casita Tranquila.

We pride ourselves that the villa is well equipped, all in excellent working order and a home-from-home, therefore we will immediately replenish the cutlery and useable cleaning products, broom, mop, etc. and of course ensure that all the fans are in full working order as they should be and have always been in the past.

Cheryl who manages the property locally can be contacted at any time and is more than happy to rectify any unforeseen problems that may arise during the stay of visitors to Casita Tranquila.

Feedback from all our previous guests this year and in previous years has been excellent and the villa attracts many repeat bookings.

Thank you once again for your constructive review and providing us with the opportunity to correct the issues mentioned for the enjoyment of future guests.

Our stay at Casita Tranquila, Moraira

Jeff. Blackpool, U.K.
Review Submitted: August 13, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
Our party of 8 adults and 2 young children arrived on the 25th & 26th July 2008. Our first impressions were that the Villa was even more spacious than we had expected from the description we had received. It was extremely well equipped right down to the microwave oven. We particularly liked the rather cute BBQ area which even contained a fridge for all those essential drinks. The BBQ was used on many occassions. The walk into Maraira was as described as 12minutes. The walk back in the heat of an August day was fairly hard going initially, particularly the last 50 yards but some of us found it a good way of getting some exercise! The small town of Maraira was delightful. There were plenty of shops, a well stocked supermarket and an abundance of fine restaurants and bars. One of our favourites was the Olive Tree Restaurant which did a fixed price menu with childrens menu as well. One thing that struck me was that the local people we met were both friedly and helpful. Back to the Villa we found that the property was clean and well maintained and the one or two minor hiccups we had early in our stay were very soon put right. Iwould have no hesitation in recommending this property to a potential holidaymaker as everthing was as described in the brochures and gave us the quiet and peaceful holiday we were looking for.
