Villa Elche is an exquisite well appointed villa with private pool set entirely in its own grounds and just over one kilometre away from the lively but sophisticated resort of Moraira. The accommodation is all on one level and consists of a large lounge/dining room (leading to a patio with direct access to a 10m X 5m private pool), a fully equipped kitchen, and three very spacious bedrooms all with ensuite bathroom facilities. In addition to the extensive terracing around the pool, there is a roof sun terrace with views looking across to Moraira and the sea. There is also a barbeque and plenty of car parking space. Although a car is recommended, it is not necessary as the villa is within easy walking distance of the beaches, bars and restaurants of Moraira.

Moraira

Moraira is part of the municipality of Teulada, situated about four miles inland. In earlier times the centres of population were situated away from the coasts to offer some protection from marauding pirates and invaders - Romans, Moors, Berbers etc. Moraira developed as the fishing port for Teulada, and both the lookout tower (Torre-vigia) on Cap d'Or overlooking Moraira's El Portet beach, and the Castle are reminders of the past. Moraira has four beaches, each very different in character from the others. The beach of El Portet is the northernmost of these, being situated at the end of a sheltered shell-shaped bay, quiet with clear water and a gently sloping seabed, being ideal and safe for swimming. The town beach is a large sandy beach with a play area and restaurants. Platgetes is quieter and partly sand/partly rock; and L'Andrago is a boulder beach, ideal for snorkeling. Both to the north and south of Moraira there are many secluded bays and coves well worth exploring.

Fiestas & Leisure Activities

This region of Spain is famous for its colourful festivals or fiestas. These take place throughout the year, but probably the most well known is the Moros Y Chistianos held in June, celebrating the reconquest by the Christians of Moslem-ruled Spain. Water sports that can be enjoyed include swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, jet skiing, windsurfing, and for the less energetic, sunbathing. The three main beaches are all European blue flagged, and zoned and life guarded so that various activities can be enjoyed safely. Other sports include walking, climbing, cycling and horse riding.

Golfing Information

Within 10 minutes drive of the villa is Javea Golf Club situated between Moraira and Javea and is open all year round. The course is a 9 hole, par 72 and 3,035 metres and is easy to play and relatively flat. The Olazabal designed La Sella Golf Course is 15 minutes drive inland near the village of Jesus Pobre. The course has 18 holes, par 72 and is 6,029 metres. The course although flat has many trees and water obstacles and presents a very good challenge. Within 40 minutes drive north in Oliva is Oliva Nova Golf Club, designed by Seve Ballesteros. This testing course has 18 holes, is par 72 and 7,051 metres. Going south overlooking Benidorm you have the two new Real de Faula championship courses which are very highly recommended - one par 72 championship and one par 62 eighteen hole tester!
