El Membrillo (the Quince tree) is thought to be over 300 years old & has been fully refurbished to provide a quiet, delightful Finca, set in its own Mediterranean garden with private pool and with genuine easy (900 metres) walking distance of the town centre and beach. The five generous bedrooms sleep 10 without the use of sofa beds and with the flexibility of a mix of double and single beds. All bedrooms have air-conditioning. The Finca has a fully equipped kitchen including a large American fridge providing ice and filtered cool water. There is an outside summer kitchen with barbeque, drinks fridge, washing m/c, preparation sink and worktop. A large covered patio to the side affords plenty of shaded area with its own 10-seater tile-top table. There is also another large stone table under an old Almond tree which seats at least 10 people. The pool (1m to 2m deep) has plenty of loungers, tables and shades. Membrillo can be rented as a 2 or 3 bed unit in low season.

Moraira is a small, prosperous fishing port, mainly with owner occupied villas and no large hotels or sky scraping apartment blocks and the jewel of the Costa Blanca. Easy access to Altea, Javier, Calpe and the bodegas, olive and almond groves of the Jalon valley. The AP7 motorway gives fast access to airports and the rest of Spain. Moraira bay provides sheltered beaches and safe water sports. There are many drives into the hills where you will find great Spanish restaurants where the locals dine! The weather tends to be warmer and more settled on the coast with warm onshore winds making it is a delight to wander down to the town in the evening to eat and drink and then stroll back to El Membrillo without having to drive. The Friday market provides local produce to keep you going all week. Several supermarkets nearby stock a huge range of international produce to suit every taste. Lifeguarded beach & sea 800 metres away and is safe for children. Quaint town with loads of boutiques.

  • Bookings are generally taken from Saturday to Saturday although there may be flexibility in the low season. To secure the booking, a 25% deposit is taken with the balance payable 8 weeks before arrival. A security deposit of £500 is taken at the same time as the final payment is made with each booking and refunded immediately after the holiday. Other than the peak season, either the cottage or the house may be rented separately - if you chose to rent the 'cottage' on its own, we would not let the 'house' for the same period and vice versa, but you would have the full sole use of the outside facilities.
    Prices in Euros. Visa & Mastercard credit cards accepted which gives you financial security over all payments to us. Sterling by bank transfer into UK bank account at prevailing dayrate. NOTE: We are fully bonded as a French Registered Company so you have full financial protection.
  • SECURITY DEPOSIT: Our local host will check inventory for damage or breakages and authorize the refund immediately after you have vacated the premises. The deposit will be returned to you by transfer directly into your bank account or refunded to your credit card whichever method was originally used.
    If El Membrillo is left in a very poor state of cleanliness, or we have to move furniture back to its original position, or we have to bring in extra staff or spend more than normal time cleaning, washing-up, clearing up and tidying, or disposing of rubbish, we reserve the right to make an additional charge. We expect that all washing-up is done and put away and that the Villa is left in a clean and tidy state before vacating.
    Should there be any significant damage or breakages, or we have had to bring in extra staff, we will contact you to discuss and agree any charges. Extra staffing is charged at 25 euros per hour. Loss of the Safe key will be charged at 100 euros

  • Cottage: Bathroom 1 is on the ground floor and serves bedroom 1 on first floor. Bathroom 2 is ensuite to bedroom 2 on 1st floor. House: Bathroom 3 is ensuite to the ground floor bedroom No 3 and has a shower, toilet and washbasin. Bathroom 4 is ensuite to bedroom 4 on the first floor. Bathroom 5 has a full size bathtub, large shower over, WC and washbasin. (Ideal for bathing baby! ) We supply hairdryers in each bathroom. We provide individual soap, a bath towel, a hand towel and a pool towel per person. It should be noted that access to the Finca is via 20 or so gentle steps, but once there, the ground floor ensuite bedroom offers accessibility for people with walking difficulties. The garden has various different levels via shallow steps. The Finca has been fully updated and is in the Spanish Rustic style, with old beams, barrelled ceilings and lots of typical local features. Mature garden has lemon, olive and Quince trees and lots of very old Cactii and succulents

The house has a ground floor double bedroom with its own patio and en suite shower room with WC and basin. On the first floor, bedroom 4 has either a Queen size double bed or 2 x 3ft singles and has an en suite bathroom and its own balcony, with table and chairs. Bedroom 5 on the first floor has a double bed and uses the downstairs bathroom. We have available two cots, a stroller & high chair plus various children's toys if required (please notify at time of booking) - anything else please enquire and we would be delighted to assist.

Notes: The pool can be closed off for the safety of young children at the cottage end. The pool is not heated, but we are told it is one of the warmest in MoraIra as it is out of any wind and very sheltered. It has sun all day. There is a short (40 metres) driveway from Camino del Campamento which is not surfaced with tarmac. At the beginning this is quite steep but perfectly driveable by car with care. It would be difficult, however, to push a wheelchair over it. Once parked in our private parking area, everything else is surfaced and steps are gradual and shallow, the patios and all other areas are terracotta tiles or local stone. Wheelchair users should be able to negotiate around the Finca and be able to use the ground floor ensuite bedroom . Guests say that Membrillo is perfect for family gatherings as there are many different areas, plus the playroom for people to have quiet time to themselves but also be all together for meals and around the pool. WiFi available at no extra charge

Local Sports: There are several good Golf Courses nearby with good facilities. There are tennis courts within a few hundred yards of the property, with rental rates of around 4 euros per hour. The Marina offers several water sport activities - again only a ten minute stroll from the property. We can put you in touch with walking tours for all abilities. The Spanish cycling clubs are legendary and some Sundays, the Police close the roads and everyone watches the race go by, then heads for the bars!

Golf: Ifach golf course is just up the road and is a 9 hole course. Club hire and equipment available for hire. Stunning views and a nice club-house. Mention us to our friends, Derek & Cecilia, the clubhouse managers and we are sure you will get a warm welcome! Good breakfast and Menu del Dia. No problem taking young children. Javea Golf Course is about 5 minutes drive, 18 hole and a more upmarket club.

We just sat and read all day, it was so quiet and peaceful. Wandered down to town each evening around 8pm for a meal and wandered back all very casual and delightful. Lots of good restaurants. Nice to see that the descriptions on the website are accurate and the walking times to beaches and the town spot-on. (letter received upon return - May 06.)
We just had to write to you to let you know what a fantastic holiday we all had. The Finca had everything we needed to make the holiday a memorable one. The children were never out of the pool and we all sat round that lovely stone table under the Almond tree and had really good family time together. The Finca is really perfect for a family gathering which is what I know you use it for. We will be back. (Aug 06)
A perfect holiday - it is so quiet yet so near to the beach and restaurants. The car just sat there all week. You have supplied everything required and more. (Aug/Sep 06)

Beautiful and Relaxing Site for Our Family Reunion

This past summer my wife and I spent two weeks at El Membrillo with six other adult family members and three small children. Members of our group flew into Alicante from England, France and the US. Our rental cars, along with the detailed directions provided, made it easy and convenient to travel from the airport to this resort-like finca.

I say "resort-like" because everything we needed was either right at the property or within walking distance. All the bedrooms were beautifully decorated, clean and air-conditioned. One opened onto a ground floor patio and two opened onto balconies. Having so many bathrooms and indoor/outdoor sitting areas added to the sense of spaciousness (which is something to think about when spending two weeks with both sets of your parents!). The kitchens were well equipped, and we used the BBQ three times. Another great feature was the outdoor shaded dining area as we enjoyed eating all of our meals outdoors.

Again I say "resort-like" because it seems like we hardly left the property. We did some sightseeing, went to a few nice restaurants/cafes, went to the beach a few times. I had planned to get out much more, but the scene around the pool had a major gravitational affect that we couldn't seem to break free of. We spent hours every day just by the pool (or in it!). What a great feature. My Dad even went in!

I was surprised by the quaintness of the town (Moraira). It was touristy, but still felt authentically Spanish at the same time. (I was worried there might be more high-rises and crowds.) Many of the cafes have sea views and were good for either sitting with a book or lunching with a group. My wife and I even got out alone (without our 18 month-old) for an evening to enjoy a nice fish dinner.

The only negative I could mention would be that, although the pool is fenced off from the cottage area, it's not from the main section... which would be a bit of a worry for those like us with small children. I mentioned this to the owner who said that he had plans to solve this with an additional gate, so maybe he's already done that.

I'd recommend this place to anyone needing this size facility, and I hope we can go back in two years.

A Fantastic holiday home for all the family!

What struck us most about Membrillo was the personal touches in the house that meant it was obviously a well used and loved family holiday home. We were a family group of 10, holidaying to celebrate our parents 40th anniversary. We loved the space, the nooks and cranies of the garden, and the well equipped kitchens. It wasn't just the children who were never out of the pool and there was always a sun lounger with a glass of ice cold water from the fridge afterwards!! The location was quiet and peaceful and yet it was only a 15min walk to the beach and the town of Moraira with all the restaurants, bars and shops. We had the option to eat out in town or at the villa which had outside kitchen and bbq area. The owners couldn't have been more helpful prior to our stay sending information and directions. Our holiday was relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable. It made our parents special day even more special. We would definitely return. Thank you!

We booked this villa to accommodate 10 friends and it was perfect. The bedroom were all an excellent size and the outside space was exactly what we needed.
The town is 10 minutes walk away but the villa fees secluded and is quiet.
I would definitely reccommend this villa.

Good peaceful location

What a lovely finca. We were a party of 6 and the accommodation was perfect.The kitchen was very well equipped. The pool was a good size and located in a sunny position - we often sat out by pool until 8 pm. A small sandy beach was 10 minutes walk away where there were a couple of beach bars. The main town was15 minutes walk down hill and full of good restaurants and another sandy beach which was a little more crowded.

The owners provided all the information we needed even a welcome couple of bottles of cava when we arrived. We could no fault the service we were given.

There were 5 bedrooms and bathrooms however of the 4 bedrooms upstairs only two of them had en suite bathrooms (which were very modern) the other two bathrooms were downstairs. This would not have suited us had we been a party of 8/10 adults.
Owner's Response: We do make it clear in the website that 1 bathroom in the cottage and 1 in the house are downstairs. There is also a ground floor bedroom with its own ensuite facilities especially useful for anyone finding stairs difficult .
For families, it is great to have a full-size bathtub downstairs for "bathing baby"
We have 5 bedrooms, 3 of which are ensuite, the other 2 bedrooms have sole use of a downstairs bathroom each.
Our Finca is thought to be over 300 years old and of course traditionally did not have any water or sewage services on upper floors.
