Villa layout: Moraira bay can be seen from all rooms. The property overlooks the Moraira valley and bay and is on a very small, quiet residential development of just fifteen properties. Fifteen metre shared pool with terrace, BBQ area, toilets and shower. The entrance level upper floor comprises kitchen, breakfast bar, dining area and separate lounge with patio doors opening on to the balcony. Downstairs are two bedrooms, a spacious bathroom, large covered terrace and secluded garden area for sun bathing. The south facing balcony and downstairs garden have sun all day.

The Moraira area: Moraira lies in a bay, on the South Eastern coast of Spain. It has one of the best climates of continental Europe and is ideal for year round visiting. Cool sea breezes in summer and protected against the cold North winds in winter. The area remains exclusively for villa owners and individuals, who prefer the independent holiday. Restaurants in abundance( 3 Michelin star-rated), shops, wineries, historic buildings and celebrations, all watersports, golf, tennis, horse-riding, go-karts, walking, cycling, climbing, parasailing, themepark Terra Mitica, excursions or renting a Harley Davidson !

This really WAS something different

As the advert says , this really IS something a little different. Incredible setting. Inspiring views from almost everywhere in the villa – but beyond this, a real sense of comfort. A home from home. Really nicely furnished and equipped. So light and spacious. We loved the choice of large upper balcony or shaded lower naya or ... the lower terrace garden. Such a beautiful location and so well placed to reach everywhere easily and quickly. The pool and pool terrace also added to the overall ‘impact’ of this location. An extremely peaceful and very relaxing holiday in a superb property.

Lovely Villa

We have rented self catering villa's every year for the last 10 years and I like to try and review them as fairly as I can. We stayed at 'vil sol' for a week in July and had a really lovely holiday in the area. The location is great, however a car is necessary.

Positives: The villa was exceptionally clean on arrival and had all the mod cons necessary for a home from home. The views from the balcony were stunning and made for a lovely place to sit and have a meal or glass of wine of an evening. The villa has character and a lovely homely feel to it. No need to print out the instruction sheets before arriving it is all there. Directions to the villa were spot on!

Other points to mention: If you are going in July / August I would suggest paying for the air conditioning supplement. We didn't realise that the air con in one room was not included (my error for not reading small print) and as a result the temperature in the bedrooms did not drop below 30degrees at night. There are ceiling fans however these click loudly...pay for the air con or bring ear plugs - problem solved!

A slightly concerning sight was two great big security cameras pointing directly at the balcony and table area (not shown in pictures) and sunbathing areas. This was a bit off putting to think that we had no idea who could be watching us having our breakfast, sunbathing, our child etc. Not that we were doing anything very exciting but it felt like an invasion of privacy and seemed odd that no other villas had any cameras. This may be something that would just bother us though but is worth a mention.

I would suggest hiring a small car if you wish to park at the villa itself as space is limited. Also get something with a bit of oomph if you wish to get up the hill from the villa as we saw a Yaris having to unload it's passengers in order to get up the hill! You could always park on the road outside though.

The communal pool was fantastic and we rarely had to share it with other people - views from here were also amazing. In terms of price the villa is very good value for the area. The constant mentioning about turning appliances off, washing using cold water, not having heating above 3 etc all seemed a bit stingy. To be honest, adding £50 to the cost and being left to get on with it would be better and we would have happily paid as the villa was lovely.

If you have children the Safari Aitana is a MUST. Big animals close up and they let you get out of the car!!!
Owner's Response: Thanks for the nice review - appreciated. Have to admit being a little disappointed with (perhaps inadvertent) inaccuracies in the review which could mislead other readers. Of course, any fair criticism is justified, but our concern here was that:

- some of the pre-holiday info pack wasn’t read & (worryingly)
- some of its contents are reported inaccurately in this review

Here’s the relevant extracts from the info pack so readers here can decide if review comments were justified:

1) (Dummy) CCTV cameras
It’s a genuine shame the reviewer was upset by the cameras as info received prior to holiday explains:
“The two cameras on outside of property were installed by previous owner. They’re dummies - no inner mechanism”

Additionally, contrary to review comments, they don’t point at the property but at adjacent woods. That’s academic though. They are fakes as explained in pack.

2) Washing in cold water(?!)
We’d get few visitors & lots of negative comment if we suggested people wash in cold water. Only in the context of the Washing Machine, the info-pack states that, if you want to use it, the “cold setting, is absolutely fine & quicker than a hot wash”. This doesn’t mean you can’t use hot wash!

3) Were we really being mean regarding the use of appliances (radiators)? Hopefully, readers can decide:

With the radiators, we ask “ Please use radiators sensibly, they’re strangely expensive now. Switch off before bed / leaving villa. For safety, don’t use above level 5 or leave clothes on radiators. Ensure heaters are off before you leave”.

That was intended as a fair comment with equal emphasis on safety & economy.


4) Ceiling fans
Few large ceiling fans are 100% silent but, any unusual fan noise could have been resolved had we known. Interestingly, most guests prefer these large, effective fans to a/c. Also the house overlooks sea & gets nice breeze most evenings.

5) The review suggests that one may need a car with “oomph”? We probably wouldn’t agree (although it’s subjective). Don’t spend more than you need on car. Some residents there use mopeds. We often hire a 1.2 Polo. It’s Ideal. Also a 1.6 Focus / 2.0 Golf if staying longer. We’re intrigued why the Yaris was ejecting its poor passengers...

Again, fair criticism is healthy but readers should have both viewpoints. Our concern was that some of the pre holiday info pack wasn’t read and that some of its contents were misreported.

...just to let you know what a wonderful time we had!

The villa is beautiful, we absolutely loved it. It was so well equipped and the information you provided was so detailed and helpful. The views from the villa were spectacular during the day and so romantic at night sitting on the spacious balcony with the moon setting over the sea.

We loved Moraira, very cosmopolitan, clean and some great bars/restaurants looking over the sea.

We did hire a car, so we did a bit of touring and found some lovely traditionally Spanish places to visit thanks to your tips!

We hope to visit again and can't recommend this lovely place highly enough

We really enjoyed our stay and found your house comfortable, clean, well kept and well equipped. We enjoyed the superb views very much and used the large kitchen to prepare some delicious meals. We very much enjoyed the breakfasts in the early morning sun on the balcony and your choice of music! Rest and Relaxation at VilSol!

We had a wonderful time at VilSol and really appreciate the opportunity to stay in your villa. The views were magnificant and we actually felt nearer to the coast than we expected (despite the photos on the website). It really was home from home for us, with very comfortable settees and plenty of light and space. We made full use of both the balcony and the lower terrace, the latter giving us the much needed shade for reading (courtesy of your
library!). The elevated views enabled us to utilise our binoculars: We managed to identify passing cruise ships and zoom in on a bird of prey! The kitchen was marvellous with a wide range of saucepans (my boyfriend used to be a chef and likes to use all sorts and sizes, leaving me to do the washing up worst luck!). We fully recommend staying at VilSol..
