Golfing:
There are 2 golf courses minutes from Moraira town. Golf Iffach is on the coast road to Calpe. 9 holes with a club house serving food. Attached to it (above) is a restaurant called The Micheta which has an a la carte menu and amazingly cheap Menus del Dia and great value for money B-B-Q's on Wed, Sat and Sun night. The views are stunning. Javea golf course is on the road to Javea (5 min drive from Moraira) and is also a 9 hole. Again the club house has food available. I have a full set of clubs at the villa and my friend who lives locally is always keen to introduce any visitors to his golf club.
Beaches, eating and drinking:
Moraira has its own beach which along with other beaches on this stretch of the coast holds awards for being some of the cleanest in Europe. El Portet beach is a couple of minutes drive out of Moraira and has stunning views. Both beaches have bars serving drinks, tapas and meals to outside tables. Between Moraira and Calpe on the coast road hidden turnings leading down to small coves with beach bars. Calpe (15 min drive south) has superb beaches with a long Arenal (promenade). Again lots of small restaurants and beach bars.
Javea, 15 mins to the north also has a large beach, kids play area, bars and restaurants. Morairas bars and restaurants cater for every taste and pocket. All serve Menus del Dia which is a 3 course meal, normally with wine priced upwards from 7 euros. Bars are plentiful and varied. You can relax quietly in some, others have live music featuring solo artists, duos or bands. There are sports bars, karaoke, quizzes and theme nights and tapas bars.
Sightseeing and general.:
There are fiestas throughout the year the largest being The Moors and Christians in June. Other local towns stagger the fiestas so that if you miss one you can catch the next. Bull running in the streets of Moraira is a favourite, but not for the faint hearted. The bulls are not harmed but never-the-less it can be perceived as cruel. The Casa de Cultura in the next village of Teulada has traditional Spanish music and dance shows along with opera, musicals, bands etc. Local art galleries have exhibitions and there are superb restaurants serving only Spanish dishes using fresh local produce.
Denia is a large port about 45 mins drive north of Moraira. Or you can catch a train from Teulada. It has a huge market on Mondays, great shops and ferries leave daily for Ibiza (takes 4 hours). Its a lovely trip and costs about £30. Teulada has lots of narrow streets to explore and you can fill up your empty containers at the fresh spring water fountain.
