Bona Taula is a beautiful twin bedded garden apartment available to rent throughout the year and situated in the quiet area of Riells de Dalt in L'Escala. It's just a short walk from the blue flag beaches and shops and restaurants of Riells and a five minute drive to the wonderful old town of L'Escala. The apartment is located off the main road in a quiet cul de sac of just four houses and easy parking outside the apartment is a bonus in summer months. The apartment has a good sized twin bedroom with a comfortable and easy to use double sofa bed in the spacious attractive lounge which has a dining area and TV and DVD player. The American style fully equipped kitchen has a gas hob, microwave and washing machine. The apartment opens on to its own large private terrace and palm tree filled garden with its own bbq area and is quiet, gated and secure and can be enjoyed by the whole family including children. Plenty of books and boardgames are provided as well as beach towels and umbrellas

The beautiful coastal town of L'Escala on the Costa Brava is just 40 minutes drive from Girona Airpot which is served by Ryannair who provide low cost fares from many UK airports. This popular holiday resort was once a small fishing port. In summer the town becomes bustling but not at all rowdy. The absence of any high-rise buildings gives it a bright and friendly atmosphere. Its geographical position makes it an ideal base for exploring the wonderful coastline and coves, bays and pretty medieval towns and villages of the Costa Brava and for travelling further afield. Nearby Figueres was home to the famous Salvador Dali. To the south there is the wonderful medieval city of Girona, and the capital of Catalonia - Barcelona. To the west is the lake of Banyoles, duty free Andora and the snow-capped Pyrenees. L'Escala is also a wonderful base for golifing , snorkelling and diving, walking and bird watching and has beautiful safe and sandy beaches for swimming, windsurfing and sailing.

l'escala: L’Escala is a traditional town and fishing port on this unspoilt part of the Costa Brava. It’s the perfect base for year round sunshine, secluded bays, coastal walks and archaeological sites. While you are here you really should take a trip to the wonderful city of Barcelona but there are also other things we would recommend all within half an hour's drive away or less. The Ruins of Empuries: Site of the first Greek Colony in Spain set up in 600BC. It is close to the charming village of Sant Marti d’Empuries which has wonderful beaches and views of the Bay of Roses and several good restaurants – a great pit stop after visiting the Greek and Roman ruins. In summer a little open air train runs from L’Escala to Sant Marti and then back to Montgo a beautiful bay and also a must see at the other end of town. They run all day and late into the night and you can hop on and off at various locations.

golfing: Golfers traveling to courses situated in the Baix and Alt Emporda countryside are exploring untouched territories. What they find is beautiful countryside, peace and tranquility, along with outstanding Catalan restaurants set inside ancient Masias (farmhouses). In the last decade the Costa Brava has become host to nine excellent golf courses (not a bad one amongst them) four of which are some of the best in Europe. Costa Brava golf courses are rapidly becoming known as Spain’s best golfing destination. Those closest include Pals, Peralada, Girona, Gualta and Emporda. The Costa Brava has a climate that’s perfect for golf. Along the coastline, the region usually enjoys year-round bright, sunny and mild weather with an average yearly temp of 16 degrees centigrade. It’s protected by the Pyrenees Mountains in the north and the warm Mediterranean to the east. A warm jet stream helps keep the region pleasantly bright and mild during the winter. Shirt-sleeves golf in November and February.

This is a well equipped, comfortable apartment ideal as a base in which to relax and/or visit local attractions and beaches in the area. It is situated in a quiet area away from the hustle and bustle of the town itself but within easy walking distance of local beaches and restaurants. The garden is particularly lovely providing a beautiful, quiet, shady place in which to relax and enjoy a barbecue.
The owner lives in the house above. We found her very helpful, advising on local information and attractions etc. but never intrusive.
The town of L'Escala has beautiful beaches (although crowded in August) and offers a buzzing nightlife suitable for couples and families. There are many restaurants offering platos combinados; paella; pizzas etc. however if you fancy something more adventurous you can also sample local dishes and fresh fish at restaurants near the marina and in the old town.
