Villa apartment with exclusive use of beautiful private pool
The apartment, with its own sunny terrace, garden and parking area, is located in a quiet residential area a short walk from the rural village (and restaurants) of Vall-Llobrega. Guests have exclusive use of the superb salt-water overflow swimming pool, with its terrace for sunbathing and admiring sweeping views of the countryside to the sea. If it's peace and quiet you're after, you can simply stay at home lazing by the pool, or drive 5 minutes to superb blue-flag bathing beaches. Or perhaps you'd prefer golf, walking, or exploring the wonderful architectural and historic sites of Catalonia. There are many excellent bars and restaurants in the area and, if you like the night-life, then look no further than cosmopolitan Platja d’Aro, with its great shopping and people-watching opportunities, or trawl the tapas bars in the more traditional fishing port of Palamos.

Vall-Llobrega is close to the lively port of Palamos, where you can watch the fishermen bring in their catch at the end of the afternoon. It’s 40 kilometres to historic Girona, with its very own Rambla and labyrinthine old town crammed with interesting shops and bars. Barcelona is a 120-kilometre drive away, or take the train to central Barcelona (just one hour from Caldes de Malavella mainline station), or one of the frequent local buses. There are picturesque coastal villages and medieval towns to explore within a short drive of the apartment (Palamos, Calonge, Llafranc, Calella de Palafrugell, Tamariu, Sa Tuna, Begur, Pals, Peretallada, Sant Feliu de Guixols, and many more). The southern French border is just an hour's drive away and you can be in the Pyrenees in two hours. Excellent championship golf courses. Good walking country. Plenty for the kids to do.

| Notes: | This fully self-contained apartment is surrounded by an arched, covered terrace that makes it very private and affords great views of the countryside, stretching to the sea. Outside the apartment there’s a sunny terrace with a table, four chairs and large parasol. A private garden leads to the pool area, with its fantastic chlorine-free salt-water pool. You can walk to the nearby village of Vall-Llobrega, where there are three restaurants and a baker’s shop selling basic necessities. There’s a supermarket and pharmacy a few minutes drive away. It’s five minutes drive to undeveloped Castell beach in one direction, and five minutes to the bay of Palamos to the right, with its acres of safe, blue-flag bathing beaches. Also available: iron & ironing board, hairdryer, 4 sunbeds, 2 beach chairs and parasol, as well as an infant high chair and baby bath. Beach towels on request. |
Coast, beach and tourist attractions
The Costa Brava (wild coast) is one of the most attractive parts of the Spanish coastline, with rocky coves alternating with long, sandy beaches. There are many four- and five-star blue flag bathing beaches in the area, some of which are little bays in picturesque seaside towns like Tamariu or Callella de Palafrugell, or reached by coastal paths, whilst sweeping sandy beaches can be found in the larger seaside resorts. The kids will adore the acres of golden sand at nearby Palamos or Sant Antoni de Calonge (all with lifeguards on hand), or the huge water park in nearby Platja d’Aro. The council organises free activities for the kids in summer, and there are fiestas and cultural events on offer. For those with an architectural or historical bent, visit some of the many interesting sites in the area, including medieval villages, Romanesque churches, the Dali museum at Figueras and the Greek and Roman ruins at Empuriabrava. And of course you shouldn’t miss a trip to Barcelona
Golf, walking and cycling
There are excellent championship golf courses within 30 minutes drive, ranging from par three courses to championship courses. There's also a Pitch'n'Putt 10 minutes away. Walkers can stroll out from the apartment into the surrounding hills and countryside, or enjoy the views as you meander along the Catalan coastal paths. When the weather is not too hot, more seasoned walkers can explore the way-marked routes through the nearby Gavarres hills, or venture further afield to the Pyrenees. There's lots of great biking on road and off road, with no need to take the car.
Shops and restaurants
If you don't fancy driving, you can walk into the village of Vall-Llobrega and eat at one of the restaurants or bar, or shop for essentials at the little bakery cum village store. Or drive into nearby Palamos, a charming Catalan port, with traditional restaurants, cafés, tapas bars and shops. Modern and cosmopolitan Platja d'Aro has it all - fashionable stores, lots of tourist shops, cafés and restaurants, plus a lively nightlife. There's plenty of al fresco eating in any of the lovely seaside towns and villages in the area and you can shop in bustling local markets, well-stocked supermarkets or speciality stores.
