The property is set in the midst of impressive rural surroundings, CAN POU overlooks terraces and landscaped gardens with palms, orange and lemon trees, eucalyptus, cypres and almond trees, in vibrantly colourful flowerbeds, bushes and greenery. From the house one can enjoy a typical Catalan panoramic view of a traditional medieval village standing in the foreground of distant rugged hills. A typical style construction set in a 3.500 m² property in the 'La Coma' residential quarter, the premises are reached by a rustic local access road. The location of Can Pou is exceptional for it's quietness, outlook and superb orientation. A pleasant 8Om² terrace with flowered decor is equipped with tables and chairs, surloungers, swinging sun-bench, parasol and barbecue. The swimming pool is 50m away and can be reached by a garden path. The pool is shared with 2 other private residences, Adjacent to the pool is a pool-house with changing area, shower and toilet.

Castell-d'Aro is part of Playa de Aro (seaside),about 3 miles west by large landscaped avenue, close to speedway to Gerona, airport, rail, motorway south to Barcelona and south Spain and north to French border (60 miles). Close to several historical sites (Ampurias), golf courses (9) , museums (Dali at Figueras), many beaches and historical places on the seaside (Costa Brava), to Barcelona 1 hour, to France (border) 1 hour. High gastronomic region local and international cuisine.

WATERSPORTS and OTHER: Nearly ALL water-sports are available , it is the main sport activity in high season , it includes parasailing, sailing, boating, water-ski, jet-ski, torpedo , sometimes surfing, diving, snorkelling, waterpark with water-games, those activities are high season only . Hiking , walking , cycling , shopping and wandering about in town centre , in the afternoon or at night , shopping area , bars , night clubs, amusement park for children, and for adults many golfs are available , two of them in close surrounding , several others in short distances .

CULTURE: There are many cultural activities just around or very close-by, expositions, museums, concerts, local yearly festivities, shows, and many historical sites to visit ( as Ampurias dating Roman and Pheniciens periods ) various traditional medieval villages to visit, and of course historical Gerona and Barcelona. half-a-day away Andora proncipality in the pyreneans.

DINING: Everything is available, small typical local places, traditional restaurants, classical and international cuisine, many fish restaurants, and just an en-cas place if convenient.

Ski: No snow skiing just around, but the Pyreneans are not far away with various ski-stations and winter-sports, those places in summer period are interesting for mountain summer hiking .

Golf: There are various golf places around, the closest is at MAS NOU, above Playa de Aro, the next close is GOLF CLUB Santa Cristina, two miles away, there are several others within a 25 miles range .Off season possibility of daily rents , minimum 3 days , 18O euro / day .

Other Activities: carting , culture , antieks , gastronomy , boat renting , motor cycle renting ,etc

Great place to stay

We went to Can Pou last year after looking at dozens of villas that just did not have all that we required. Can Pou is fully equipped and the location suited our needs. The owners were a delightful couple who catered for our every need without fail. The details given were accurate.

There were five of us, two adults and three children. The boys aged 11,13 and 16 wanted somewhere with a pool and the one at Can Pou is large, clean and shared with the owners and one other property. I found the house, clean and well equipped with everything you could think of if you were cooking every day. But if you don't cook much on holiday then there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance with a good price range and that cater for all tastes.

There are many places to visit, water park 10 minutes away, Barcelona, a theme park called Tipadabo, Monserat, Girona all within driving distance, but Can Pou is so quiet, and tranquil that it was heaven just lazing around. Despite Can Pou's quiet location it is within 10 minutes drive of the beaches, restaurants, shops and nightlife of Platja D'Aro so you can have the best of both worlds.

We are returning again this year!

We stayed here in October of 2006 with several friends. The owners are wonderful people and the house is an architectural masterpiece. Would highly recommend to anyone.
