The villa is located in a residential area within walking distance of the village of Begur and just a short drive from the most beautiful beaches of the Costa Brava coast.The location makes it an ideal place to stay for anybody wishing to walk into the restaurants and bars in the evening. The house is south facing and gets the sun on the pool and terraces all day long. The living accommodation is open plan and there is a spacious terrace off the sitting room which has a covered area providing a shady spot for when it is really hot. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a bbq area big enough to satisfy any chefs desires conveniently located just outside the kitchen. The master bedroom has an ensuite shower room and there is a family bathroom with a bath. The top terrace is child friendly with a safety gate to prevent the little ones from accessing the pool .Whilst we say the house accommodates six people the sixth bed is a pull out. We can provide a travel cot and high chair

Begur is the jewel in the crown of what has to be the most beautiful part of Catalonia and we think all of Spain. It is a small village with historical links to Cuba and therefore the architecture is reminiscent of old Havana. The centre of the village is pedestrianised with numerous small chic shops, boutiques, restaurants and bars. During the summer there is a wide range of entertainment suitable for all the family in the church square. Typical Catalan sardana dancing, artisan markets, fun disco nights and puppet theatre are a few worth visiting. Of course the local beaches of Aigua Blava, Tamariu, Aigua Gelida and Sa Riera are the reason most people come to the area all of which are within a very short drive from the villa. Each beach has its own charm and facilities with lots of scuba diving, snorkelling, sailing or simply just chilling out. There is so much to see and do it is impossible to tell you all in this short space. Why not give us a ring and we will fill you in!

Notes: The swimming pool is set on a south facing terrace which has the sun all day it is heated by solar energy so you can swim from end of February to end of October if we have sun - which we generally do! This villa is particularly child friendly with limited access to the swimming pool. We can arrange an English speaking baby sitter who has her own transport and is available both during the day and evening. For stays of more than one week the villa is cleaned and there is a change of linen on a weekly basis.

Golf: For the golfer there are a number of local courses within a very short distance. At Pals there are two good courses and at Emporda one of the best courses in Spain. There is no shortage of choice in this region with courses to suit all levels from the most challenging to the more forgiving. It is up to you. Club hire is available in most places and it is relatively easy to organise tee times. There is a very friendly English speaking golf society locally if you wish to take part in any of their competitions that is easily arranged.

Great Family Villa

My wife, toddler and I had a tremendous fortnight in this child friendly villa near Begur at the start of Sept 2009. The stay was enhanced by the local knowledge of agents - Dave and Phil Fleming - who couldn't do enough to help - ranging from cycle routes to restaurants to couriering to the UK baby clothes we had left in the villa! Luckily timing the trip to coincide with the village Cuban festival was the icing on the cake and we didn't want to leave!!
Owner's Response: We are really glad you enjoyed your holiday. Thanks for taking the time to post a review. The Feria de los Indios (Cuban festival) here at the begining of September is great fun. Glad you enjoyed it so much. The local community here and the town hall are both very active and during year there are a number of 'festivals' all great excuses for plenty of eating and the odd glass (or two) of cava. The Cuban connection is great and the Salsa band they have are usually brought in from Havana so are really authentic.
This weekend was the local Begur, 'Santa Reparada' celebration so there was entertainment for the children, followed by traditional 'Sardanas' and then a 'Swing' band to dance the night away to. The villa is close enough to stroll in, enjoy the fun and yet not hear the noise if you need to get an early night.

A real find

Often we find time to complain and sometimes forget to praise when we receive good service. We have been renting villas for over ten years now and love the Costa Brava. Our first visit to Begur was by far the best holiday ever. Our children are now old enough to want exercise their independance so this villa was perfect. We could walk into restaurants, shops etc., and there was a bus to the beach about 100 yards from the house. The villa is extremely comfortable, the pool area and garden spacious and well maintained. We were extremely happy to remain by the pool with our books barely venturing out shop. Yet had we wished there is lots to see and do in the area. Initially we thought the price a little high but having experienced the 'add ons' that we have been charged in the past for services that we should have considered 'part of the deal' we found the price to be very fair. The agency Costa Brava Connections to be very easy to deal with from the word go. We arrived very late, after the shops had closed , and though they do not normally provide a welcome pack we were delighted to find we didn't have to go in search of a restaurant in order to dine more than generous provisions were awaiting us together with cold beers and wine. We try to keep the villa in the way we would like to find it if we were arriving on holiday and if you are arriving late are concious of the fact that you will be tired and
often hungry. A cool beer and/or glass of cava is also usually appreciated. The villa is ideal with teenagers with lots nearby that they can get to without the need of transport. I am really glad that you enjoyed your holiday and both David and I look forward to seeing you all again soon.

Home from home with the sun

This villa was a really great find for us it worked perfectly. The heated pool was wonderful at the end of the summer and we all swam every day. The house was sunny and bright with lots of attention to detail. Obviously a home from home for the owners who have it very well equipped. The general feel of the house was very homely and well kept. This villa is close to everything and made an ideal base if you didn't want to drive in the evening. We would recommend it to our friends and in fact have.

Good for teenagers

We wanted a villa where we could enjoy a holiday with teenage children without getting in the car all the time. Begur filled the bill and so did the villa. We used the pool everyday to relax and cool off. The rooms are comfortable and well kept and the split levels adds to the charm. We didn't know the area at all but it was something of a 'find'. Easy to find restuarants or supermarkets and boutiques in between. Some nightlife if you want it in the town which is just a short walk whatever your age. The holiday flew by and we all felt refreshed on returning home.
Owner's Response: It is really helpful to get feedback from people who stay at the villa. We are so happy that people enjoy their time there as much as we do. We fell in love with Begur, its beaches and its people and knew that this was where we wanted to spend as much of our down time as possible. It's great to know other people feel the same way.
Begur is a fantastic place for family holidays with something for everybody of all ages from toddlers to teenagers and their grandparents. There is a evening programme of events offering entertainment for all ages in Begur all summer long with traditional Catalan Sardanas dancing, puppet shows, art fairs, artesan markets, and a weekly dance for the 8s to 80s! It makes a drink in the square an event in itself people watching.

This villa is an ideal location for families who don't want to have to worry about taking the car out in the evening. The pool terrace is large and well equipped with sun loungers etc., and there is a covered terrace beside the pool where you can sit out of the sun if it gets too warm. It's good to hear that the rooms are comfortable we believe there is nothing more important than a good nights sleep particularly after a journey.

Now that you have found us hopefully we will see you again.

Well laid out, well equipped and child friendly

Thanks David & Phil for such a nice villa and for all of your help and advice. La Perla really was a pearl and we really enjoyed our stay. The villa is well located, really thoughtfully laid out and well equipped. The property is basically child-friendly, as the top terrace has a gate which toddlers can't open. There are a few steps inside the villa, (as it is split level), but we just put chairs at the bottom of them to stop toddler climbing up to the "top" bedrooms. Unfortunately the weather was unseasonally cold for beginning of April, but three of us managed to brave the pool! We had a problem with the washing machine, but this was replaced quickly. We look forward to returning to Begur again soon. The villa, the beaches and the area are beautiful. Thanks again, Richard, Kirstin & girls.

Yes the villa is very child friendly and we have aimed to make it an enjoyable place to be for both groups and for families with small children. We hope that parents can relax and enjoy their holiday safe in the knowledge that the children are unable to access the pool without supervision. For older kids it is great that they can walk to the tennis courts, the centre and the shops etc., We look forward to seeing you soon.
