Local area:
The villa is set in woodland as part of an urbanization. There are views of the coast on a clear day (3 miles away) and lovely views over the surrounding forests.
There is much to do and see. Exploring by car or on foot is rewarding.
The local towns are all full of character and interest. Nearby Calonge, Palamos and Platja D’Aro are well worth a walk. The harbour in Palamos is where the trawlers deliver their goods. Slightly further a field are towns such as Parafugell, Begur, Pals, La Bisbal and St Feliu.
There are many coves and bays that can be reached by car, but in some cases on foot that offer spectacular views. For a day out Figures (home of Salvador Dali) and Vic are worth visiting, not to mention Girona itself and of course Barcelona. Remember to allow time for visiting before everything closes for lunch/siesta at 1pm. (Normally re-opens at 4pm but can vary). The local town of Palamos is where you can get buses to many of these places if you don't want to drive.
Golf:
There are many splendid and reasonably priced golf clubs in the area.
Activities:
There are water parks for the younger folks and a variety of water sports and boat trips are available.
Tennis -
There are various tennis centres locally.
Cycling/Walking -
There are many walks to suit all levels of fitness, details of some can be found in the Villa folder. The coastal walks can be challenging but very rewarding, and it is unusual to go very far without the possibility of refreshment. There are also many cycle paths on and off road, by riverside or across country.
Golf:
There is a variety of excellent courses nearby. Within 30 minutes drive of the Villa there are nine 18 hole courses. Two of these (Pals and Emporda) hosted the 2003 European qualifying school and last year a LPGA event. They vary from links to woodland and are all reasonably priced and in excellent condition. The nearest (Mas Nou) has excellent practise facilities. The mild weather makes year round golf a pleasure. Handicap certificates are generally required.
