Casalinda is a spacious, south-facing villa on a hillside overlooking the Aro valley. There are 4 bedrooms, two doubles and two twins with a well-equipped, fully-fitted kitchen, spacious living/dining room, various terraces with lovely views, outside barbecue areas, garden and large garage. The villa provides internet connection, telephone, TV, hi-fi, table tennis, books, music and videos. Cot, highchair and car seat are available. Beaches are nearby (4 km), as are the towns of Playa d'Aro, St. Feliu de Guixols and Palamos. Girona airport is 25min, Barcelona airport 90 mins. There are several golf courses, tennis courts, sports centres, cycling and walking tracks, water parks and horse riding. Shopping is varied - everything from designer shops to colourful, local markets and there is a wide choice of good restaurants. Apart from the lovely coastline there are many tourist attractions nearby (Girona, Barcelona, Dali museum, historic towns, roman ruins). A car is essential.

Sta Cristina d'Aro is roughly 4 kms inland from both Playa d'Aro and St Feliu, with the port of Palamos nearby. Historic towns and villages, such as Girona, Pals, Peratallada, Begur and Figures are within an hour's drive.The house is 25 minutes from Girona airport and 90 minutes from Barcelona airport by car. Several beaches and coves are a short drive away and the property itself looks both towards the sea and the Gavarres mountains. There is a regular train from Caldes de Malavella or from Girona to Barcelona. A regular bus service runs from Sta Cristina de Aro to Barcelona. Although the house is on the coast, the Pyrenees mountains are within a short drive and the ski slopes of Andorra are reachable in 3 hours. The proximity to mountains means the area is green all year around, and there are numerous golf courses easily accessible from the house. The area is well developed in terms of infrastructure, supermarkets and restaurants, but most towns and villages have their own markets.

Additional information about rental rates

  • The rates are Saturday mid-day to Saturday mid-day and include full clean before arrival, all linen (bed linen, towels, kitchen towels and pool towels), and full clean on departure. The pool will be maintained twice a week. Extra cleaning can be arranged in advance. Reductions for smaller parties off season are negotiable. We ask for a guarantee against breakages, etc. of €300, which is refundable after your stay when the final cleaning has been done.
  • Additional Cleaning: If required, additional cleaning can be requested and complete change of sheets and towels.

  • There are four double bedrooms, all with good wardrobe space. The two double bedrooms each have a large superking bed with two separate mattresses. The other two bedrooms have single beds of 90cm wide. The master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, double washbasins, bidet and WC. There is a further full bathroom and a shower room. Two bedrooms have views over the valley and sea and two are at the rear of the house. All bedrooms have electric shutters which are adjustable. There is also a travel cot,( + high chair, car seat) and linen for a baby.

Notes: The living area of the villa is on one level, with inside and outside steps up from the garage and parking area. Therefore it would be suitable for an elderly person who could manage a short flight of stairs. The pool is gated and is surrounded by a wall and railings. The request for non smoking only applies to the inside - we ask anyone wishing to smoke to do so on the terrace. There is a second fridge in the garage, and both fridges have a freezer section. The washing machine is also in the garage, next to a separate sink and cupboard.

The area caters for people with a wide variety of interests and hobbies. For the physically active there is tennis, squash, golf, cycling, horse riding, sailing, water sports and walking. For people interested in more cultural activities there is the Dali Museum, the Roman ruins at Empuries, Monserrat, Girona, Barcelona and various historic towns and villages all within easy reach. There are also interesting gardens worth visiting at Blanes, Lloret de Mar and Cap Roig. Shopping (from designer outlets to local markets) is excellent. The villa can be used as both a base for the above, or simply for relaxing, either indoors or outdoors. We have satellite TV and there is a good choice of books, games, chess, puzzles, HiFi, videos, DVDs along with a table tennis table, spare golf clubs and tennis rackets. We provide broadband wi-fi connection, and telephone.

Golf:

There are several golf courses in the area and the villa has been rented by small groups of golfers as a more intimate and relaxing venue than a hotel. Details of the golf courses are available in the villa.

Great location and a very nice house and pool

We have just had a great week in casalinda with our 2 daugthers 18/21.
The house is beautifully located in about 200 meters height facing south with views over the Aro valley and the ocean out on the left side.
The house is kept very nice and you really fell at home in the house with all its equipment – books, dvd’s etc.
It takes 10-15 minutes to drive down to the nice beaches – but we spent most of the time in pool and on the terrace just relaxing and enjoying the views. If you like to go for a run you only need to run up and down the hill to the house. It will keep you fit.
The owners and the local keepers are very nice and everything worked out perfect with no problems.
It is one of the best houses we have rented via HomeAway.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Romantic Getaway

Amazing location and very nice owners / renters

Nice contact to renters / easy administration - fast and uncomlicated rental procedure

Outstanding property - well kept and fully equipped
Best in class customer service, questions had been answered very fast (e-mail, phone)

I recommend these property to all people, who are looking for an exceeding holiday residence in an interesting diversified country.

We did a lot of sports (mountain bike / swimming at different beaches), sightseeing (historical sites), had dinner at some very nice restaurantes and....and....and....

I think, we will come back to Villa Casalinda again - one day :-)

Well presented property, clean and well equiped.
Loads of room with space for both quiet reflection as well as all out activity whilst not getting ontop of each other. Glorious sunbathing by the pool with good opportunity for shade if required. WiFi most welcome. Steep drive and stairs up to house restricts access for the less mobile (less so if you have a car and can drive it up to the house) but once in the house everything is on one level and very easy to get around.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
