This end terrace House is one of a small exclusive development of seven, with private gardens and terrace and sharing a Pool between the seven homes, set amidst spacious lawns and terraces. Peaceful and private with pinewoods opposite and the sea ahead, yet only minutes from the centre of Sant Feliu.

Sant Feliu de Guixols is a typical Catalan costal town with plenty of history, situated in the Emporda region of picturesque Costa Brava close to Girona. While retaining its most deep-rooted traditions, the town has intense cultural and commercial activity all the year round.

There really is something for everyone here: sandy beaches, rocky coves, marvellous lcoal restaurants offering a variety of foods, scenic walks and water sports, to name a few! The local people are welcoming and friendly and will go out of their way to helpl you out, even if they don't speak your language.

Location: Les Penyes is just a two kilometre drive from the centre of the traditional Spanish resort town of Sant Feliu de Guixols with its sandy bay and tree lined promenade. Walking into town takes approximately 15 minutes through the pretty pine wood trails. The town is lively throughout the year with a wide choice of restaurants and bars to suit every taste. The beaches offer all kinds of water sports,and the area around Sant Feliu offers golf and adventure sports. The coastline is full of contrast, with countless bays and coves surrounded by pine trees.

The property: Set amongst spacious south facing lawns and terraces and with private gardens on three sides, the house has wonderful views over the Mediterranean. Arranged over 3 floors, with split levels including a large lower ground floor bedroom suite, the house has a clean, bright interior and is furnished in a fresh modern style. On the top floor, the master bedroom (with en-suite bathroom) overlooks the sea and there are two further bedrooms facing the pine forest opposite, together with a family bathroom . On the ground floor, the raised kitchen/dining area overlooks the lounge, which in turn opens through 2 sets of patio doors onto the terrace; this terrace with stunning sea views is ideal for al fresco dining. There is a second terrace to the side of the house to take advantage of the late afternoon sun and perfect for evening barbeques. Leading down from the lounge area are the stairs to another spacious bedroom suite, which has an additional open plan seating area.

Getting there: The property can be reached from Girona airport - Ryanair (30 minutes), or Barcelona airport - British Airways and Easy Jet (75 minutes). There are also many other international flights into Barcelona airport. Sant Feliu is situated 1 hour from the Spanish/French border if you prefer to drive or you can take the train from Paris, which stops at Girona, just 30 minutes away. Parking is always available directly outside the property.

En Famille on the Costa Brava

We rented a well equipped flat last year from Kay and Terry and this house was equally satisfying. We managed to accommodate six adults and two children easily enough using the self contained basement in addition to the three conventional bedrooms. The facilities were excellent; the house is very comfortable and the location extremely pleasant. There is a private space for sitting out which overlooks the sea and a small communal pool which the kids improbably used daily in March at the evident risk of hyperthermia. Dealing with the Hunts is a pleasure and the service from Trevor the local agent was amiably first rate. The location appears isolated when driving up the main road to the estate but it is an easy walk into town [20 mins] and a short drive by the direct route. Sant Feliu [we know it well from many visits] is free of obvious tourism and has excellent local services which coupled with the kitchen facilities in the house mean you can live well without the cost [now considerable in Spain] of eating out.
There are high quality food shops in Sant Feliu and a good standard daily market. Fish is available, not cheap but it is fresh. There is plenty of casual dining in SF and some fine dining too in the surrounding countryside. The road to Tossa is not to be missed; arguably one of the most scenic in Europe. For more conventional holiday facilities, Platja d'Oro is about four miles North and nicer than Lloret which is one reason the Costas have a negative image.

So a really well-equipped property in a good location with appealing local facilities. A definite additional positive is that the owners are extremely user-friendly; and that isn't to be sneezed at when you book on-line. Highly recommended.
