A most memorable vacation

We had a wonderful 2 week vacation at “Les Tres Olivares”. John & Sian were wonderful before and during our trip and can answer any questions you may have. We had 3 generations with us (3 grandparents, my wife & I, and our 2 girls, ages 7 & 5) and everyone agreed it was one of the best vacations they’ve ever had.
The villa was perfect; a quiet location, close to the walking path, convenient to beaches and old town Begur, stunning views of the Med. Only issue we had were sporadic minor incursions of tiny ants. They were harmless and just part of being in Spain,a blast of “Zum”, problem solved. The WiFi a welcome addition. Nice book collection too. Pool was great and crucial if you have kids.
A 5 minute walk to the Camino de Ronda from where you could hike along the coast. Beautiful scenery and a good workout too. At trailhead is Vintage Bar. Food OK but, really are coming here for great view. Perched on a cliff overlooking the Med, is a fantastic place to sneak off with the wife to have a glass of wine and watch the sunset.
Beaches: Sa Tuna – closest beach and walkable. We didn’t care for it much; very rocky and small. Don’t go to Sa Tuna Restaurant, over-priced and below avg. meal. Sa Riera – Our favorite beach; wide and deep, sandier than most, not too crowded either. Close by but, should drive.Waves perfect size for little kids. Playa El Raco (in Pals) – 2nd favorite beach; good restaurants right on the beach. Bigger waves than most. Pals beach –Hard to find and designed primarily for the use by condo owners on the beach. No amenities at all. Didn't stay. LLafranc beach – 20 mins. south. Larger than most, liked the promenade and restaurants but, beach a bit dirty and extremely crowded.
Old town Begur is quaint, has many shops, restaurants. Market day (Wed.) a lot of fun. Our favorite restaurant was La Pizzetta, excellent food at a reasonable price.
If going further afield, our take: Figueres – Dali museum was impressive and great little restaurant nearby “Los Angeles”. Barcelona – About 2 hr drive but, worth trip if planned well. Recommend Sagrada Familia, Parc de la Ciutadella, Cosmo Caixa. La Rambla overrated. Cathar Castles (France) – 2 hr drive but, incredible history and scenery. Peyrepertuse and Queribus, amazing! Roses – heard old town was very quaint but, tourist trap and beach very overbuilt. Not worth spending a day to go visit.
In sum, a terrific villa in great location. Unhesitatingly recommend it.
