Casa de la Montana is a large recently constructed property on Viscondado de Cabanyes, a residential development of individually designed detached villas on the hillside above the medieval village of Calonge. The property is on an elevated site of more than half an acre with landscaped gardens and a large heated pool. It is not overlooked and has superb views of wooded hillside sweeping down to the Mediterranean at Palamos, an unspoilt fishing town. The house is equipped to a very high standard including either air-conditioning and fans in all rooms. There is a satellite system giving UK television stations. Outside there is a barbecue with loungers and teak dining furniture for eight people. The accommodation comprises four bedrooms all with access to terrace or balcony, four bathrooms, sitting room, dining room and separate kitchen. This property has privacy and quality and will not disappoint the most discerning guests.

Golf, tennis and other activities: This is a golfers paradise with seven major 18 hole and four par3 courses within a 25 mile radius of the villa. Lessons are available for beginners. Full details are in the house book. There are three tennis clubs locally open to the public with refreshment facilities and lessons available. Walking, cycling and horse riding are well catered for locally and full info is available at the villa. There are large water parks at Platja D'Aro (4 miles) and lloret de Mar (25 miles)

Dining out: There is something for every palate and purse locally. This ranges from local Catalan restaurants with three course 'menu del dia' from 7 euros including wine to top quality international cuisine in more formal settings that compares favourably with the best in Europe. Nearby Palamos is renowned for its fresh fish restaurants and Tapas bars. Full information is in the house book. For those wishing to dine at the villa a large gas BBQ is provided and local shops and markets supply quality meat, fresh salad and fish daily.

Golf: There are seven 18 hole golf courses plus four par 3 locally. All are less than 40 mins drive from the villa. Full information is available at the villa.

Confortable - quiet , with nice pool and a great view over the mountains and the sea.
We were two families ; 7 persons...and evereyone enjoyed this house !
We only can recommand it .

Fantastic House with a Stunning View

Having lived in Spain over the past 5 years, I've seen my fair share of casa rurales, but few have equaled the level of care and attention put into this house. If the view alone doesn't catch your breath, the clean and well kept house will. Fully stocked with ample cooking supplies, logically organized for a rental unit, clean and well cared for, this house will be visited by us again in the near future!

John and Mary, the caretakers of the house, were always attentive of our needs and promptly provided us with whatever supplies we required or questions we had. We couldn't have been more pleased with their attention to detail.

In short, we highly suggest you stay here!

The only tip I suggest: make sure to ask where the pool light switch is. To date, we're still wondering :-)

A Great Spanish Villa

If you are considering renting this villa, do not hesitate. It is extremely comfortable, and shows even better in person. We were two families of four that rented in July 2008. The place is highly impressive. The furniture, beds, facilities, etc. were all of a very high standard. Most days, we relaxed by the wonderful heated pool and enjoyed the BBQ at night. It was a very private and relaxing oasis. The nearby towns and beaches were also great to visit. Everything you need is a short drive away - grocery stores, restaurants, sandy beaches, bars, shopping, etc. The house book was very useful in helping us make informed decisions about local restaurants and day trips around the region. This was our first time renting through the Holiday-Rentals website, and we were very pleased with the resuts.
One caveat to consider: due to its private location high up on the mountain, it is necessary to have a car when renting this property.

Bottom line: if you are thinking about renting a four-bedroom villa along the Costa Brava, this property should be your first choice.
