Local area information:
Costa Brava beaches vary from long sandy bays to small sheltered coves, including some within walking distance of Villa Florisa. The fishing port of Palamos is a few minutes drive north, and is noted for its fish restaurants and tapas bars. Plaja d'Aro, a few minutes drive to the south, has numerous restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Girona and Barcelona are within easy reach by car, bus or train. The towns of Palafrugell, Begur and Pals are just 10-15 kilometres or so; a little further is the ceramics/pottery centre of La Bisbal. The Dali museum is in Figueres. The French border, with access to the Languedoc-Roussillon wine region, is just 90km north on the motorway – or along the scenic coast route via Portbou (take the N260 from Figueres), with its breathtaking views down to the Mediterranean.
Sport & leisure:
Sporting activities are well catered for in the region. Tennis facilities open to the public are available locally. There are numerous local beaches with clear blue water. Other water activities including scuba diving and sailing are also available. There is a waterpark with waterslides in Playa d’Aro. Bicycles can be rented locally. Costa Brava is noted for its excellent golf, with eight good 18-hole courses within 45 minutes drive.
Eating & drinking:
There are many restaurants and bars in the local towns of Palamos (noted for its fish restaurants and tapas bars) and Playa d'Aro, both only minutes away. Other towns such as Palafrugell and San Feliu de guixols are within 10 km, with more restaurants in the towns and en route. Some local restaurants are within walking distance of Villa Florisa. Dining in, make use of the fully equipped kitchen or the outdoor barbecue; fresh meat, fish and vegetables are available from local markets and shops (including three supermarkets within walking distance).
