We know you have lots of excellent villas to choose from, so this initial paragraph describes only the particular features which we believe are unique to our villa. Hopefully, if these features are important to you, then our villa may be worthy of your further consideration. Naturally, the villa has all the usual excellent features and facilities you have the right to expect, but what makes our villa different is: _Firstly, that none of the terrace, BBQ, or pool areas, are overlooked, nor do they overlook any other properties. _Secondly, there are no other properties in front of the villa, nor immediately to the right, or the left, of the villa. There's a good restaurant, and a villa to the rear, but they don't affect our privacy. _Thirdly, there is a short, flat walk into the village (please note that a short part of the road has no footpath). And, _Finally, there are uninterrupted views of an unblemished wooded hillside across the valley opposite the villa.

The villa is split level, south facing, on a large flat plot, within a small and exclusive residential area. This unique area of the Costa Brava remains unspoilt, and is characterised by green, lush rolling hillsides covered in evergreen cork, olive and oak. There are magnificent beaches, sandy coves, and historic coastal and inland villages to visit, all within easy driving distance. The local area also has beautiful coastal walks and countryside trails to enjoy. There are plenty of activities for young people, including all the usual water-sports, plus cycling (there are two bikes at the villa), kayaking, snorkeling, horse riding, karting, quad-biking, and a large water park - all nearby. It's also very easy to get to the wonderful cities of Barcelona and Perpignan for a day out, by train or car, and the beautiful and historic towns of Girona, La Bisbal, Besalu, Cadaques and Figueres, are even nearer. Additional information about rental rates

  • Terms and conditions:- The rental price includes all gas, electricity and water, provision of beach/pool towels, and the full cleaning of the villa and laundering of all towels and bedlinen before you arrive. (We'll be happy to arrange any additional interim cleaning and laundering for you, at a reasonable extra charge, if required). Also included in the price, should you wish it, is a 'meet & greet' service to show you to, and around, the villa when you arrive - and the pool will be checked, cleaned and maintained for you at least twice a week.
  • Deposits :- A 20% non-refundable deposit is required to secure each booking, with the final balance to be paid 8 weeks before the holiday start-date please. A breakage/security deposit of £250 is required, to be paid with the final balance - this deposit will be refunded to you, less any breakage costs, within 14 days of the end-date of the holiday. We strongly recommend that you take out holiday insurance because we cannot provide any refund once the final balance has been paid.
  • Arrival and Departure times :- Changeover day is normally Saturday, but we may be able to be flexible on bookings made outside the peak summer period. Please arrive at the villa after 4pm on arrival day - and depart before 10am on departure day - this will ensure that everyone has a clean and tidy villa to start their holiday.

All three bedrooms have excellent 3-speed ceiling fans, with remote controls, to keep you cool at bedtime when necessary. All three bedrooms are also fitted with excellent window insect blinds so that the windows can be left fully open for extra coolness at night, if preferred. Notes: The villa has lots of external terrace lights, including underwater pool lighting, and this means that you can swim and/or have BBQ's late into the evening. Wireless broadband internet access is available for a reasonable weekly charge.There are two large portable upright fans to keep you cool indoors if the going gets a bit hot, and there are remote-control ceiling fans in each bedroom.The garden is large, planted with palms, cactus, shrubs, trees and groundcover, and is landscaped with pathways and stone walls, including a games area for boules or badminton (all equipment provided). There is also a large pergola built over a circular walled area which can be used for more alfresco eating, or sitting, or better still, hammocking, in the shade. Another feature of the garden is the large summerhouse, used mainly for storage. The villa is on a small prestigious residential development, is adjacent to a beautifully landscaped park area, which also has a small play area for infants nearby.

Nearby Facilities : - Restaurants - Two very good restaurants 'La Jovita' and 'Can Tia' are literally five minutes flat walk from the villa (please note that a short part of the road has no footpath and care needs to be taken), and the four-star restaurant 'La Figuera', is situated on the hill just behind the villa, a few minutes away by car. There are, of course, many other excellent restaurants within close driving distance - Supermarkets - There are two excellent, large supermarkets in the village, 'Valvi', and 'Suma' both within 5 minutes drive - Golf - There are 8 excellent golf courses within easy reach of the villa. If golf is something you're particularly interested in, we can provide you with all the comprehensive course websites - Other Facilities - The village also has all the normal butcher and baker shops, banks, a rotisserie, pharmacy, medical centre, internet cafe, and a very good weekly street market. The nearby active local fishing port of Palamos sells fresh fish

Help and advice whilst at the villa?: We will of course, provide you with clear directions to the villa from whatever airport you choose and, if you wish, we will arrange to have our excellent and friendly agents, Jim & Sam, meet you when you arrive, to show you around the villa, and also demonstrate how everything works. They live closeby and will also be very happy to help you out with any problems, questions, or queries, you might have during your stay. They will, of course, also respect your privacy during your stay.

If you only look at one villa this is the one!

This was probably the best equipped, best looked after and nicest villa we have ever stayed in.

The owners were extremely helpful before we left, with excellent directions and tips on how to make the most of our holiday. Thier agents locally were also exceptional especially as we had some porblems with our Car hire arrangements and they could not have been more helpful in that situation.

The property itself is wonderfully looked after and has everything you could need. with a pool that kept our 2 teenage boys happy for hours

The local area is great with many easily accessible beaches which are not too busy even though it was the height of summer, lots to see if you fancy a spot of snorkelling too. St Antoini nearby has many good quality but reasonable restaurants but for a treat the restaurant at Rio d'Oro about a mile inland was superb (probably worth booking though!)

We took a trip into Barcelona on the train and again Doug supplied excellent directions to the station and even instructions on how to buy tickets! The "Turist Bus" gave a great overview of the city's many attractions (allowing hop on/off wherever you wanted) and the boys loved Camp Nou a must for any football fan!!

Overall the combination of the wonderful villa and a lovely surrounding area (with continuous sunshine!) made this one of our best holidays ever.

A Fantastic holiday!

Just wanted to say a big thankyou for a great holiday. The villa was simply perfect. There is everything you possibly could wish for and more in the villa. The gardens are beautiful and the pool was just what you need to cool down from the heat!
The location is great with shops within walking distance and the local port of Palamos a short drive away.

Overall we had such a lovely relaing time in a fab villa!
Want to rebook soon!!!!!

Excellent villa in quiet location

Our first contact with Doug was to enquire regarding dates for the villa and he responded very quickly, giving details of the villa, surrounding area and facilities. He also provided lots of photographs so you could see exactly what the interior of the villa looked like. No photographs could actually do it justice though. The kitchen and bathrooms were very clean and well equipped. The lounge area was really comfortable and you could really feel at home.

We travelled around the coastline rather alot and found the scenery stunning. There are lots of lovely coves to visit along with all the other bigger family resorts which provide everything you could wish for. We also went to Barcelona on the train, again Doug could not have been more helpful with this and provided directions to the train station and also which web sites to use to obtain the train times and prices.
We like to eat out whilst on holiday and found several nice restaurants within a short drive in san antonio a frenchman making pizzas!!
We also found a lovely restaurant at the Trias hotel in Palamos and would recommend eating there for a special meal. There are a couple of restaurants in Calonges itself.

We would recommend this villa to friends and family who were thinking of visiting the area.

This villa and the service provided not only lives up to the descriptions but exceeds all expectations. I would happily book again if visiting this area.

Wonderful holiday

The information provided to us before arrival was extremely helpful and accurate. Douglas and Barbara went out of their way to answer our questions and would always respond promptly. On arrival, we were met by the agent Sam, who again was very helpful and friendly. The villa itself was perfect - well equipped, clean and with a superb pool and beautiful garden. We had so many plans for the week, places to visit etc. However, we felt so comfortable that we hardly moved from the poolside. We had one day out at a small, secluded beach, recommended to us by Rob (who came twice during the week to maintain the pool but was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the area). The area offers many opportunities for excursions and Barcelona is within easy reach.
We have three children aged 5, 9 and 111 and they were so happy that they did not want to leave. There are pool toys galore, badminton, bat & ball, boules and many other resources to keep children occupied. Our youngest also enjoyed hunting for geckos in the garden! We were accompanied by my mother-in-law, who is in her late 70s and recovering from a knee operation. She had no problems at all getting around the place and we had to force her to leave too!
Inside the villa, there is a variety of board games and books in case of a bad weather day, but fortunately we had none of those. There is a good wireless connection for those of us who wanted to do a minimal amount of work and keep up with events, and also cable TV. The kitchen has every conceivable appliance and the bedrooms were very comfortable.
We only ate out once, at a restaurant called Can Tia, which was 5 minutes walk from the villa. The food and service was very good but remember, this is Spain and dinner starts at 8.00pm! The local supermarkets were well stocked.
All in all, we had such an excellent holiday that we will be returning next year. Many many thanks to Douglas and Barbara, agent Sam (her father even helped us unpack), Rob for his tips and information and the ladies who came to clean the villa on our departure.

Perfect villa in excellent location

We had a wonderful and relaxing week at Doug & Barbara’s Calonge villa after a busy week in Barcelona.

Our positive experiences started with Doug and Barbara’s prompt and helpful responses to our initial requests. If like us you have spent a few hours searching for a hard to locate holiday property you will appreciate the easy to follow directions to the villa. All the way from Barcelona without a single wrong turn is something of a record for us.

The villa itself is excellent with a beautifully landscaped and large garden. The website does not do justice to the quality of the villa and its furnishings and fittings. You will find everything you need to make this a home from home; the bathrooms are spotless and spacious with first class fittings; the kitchen is fully equipped and you will have what you need to prepare even the most sumptuous feast.

We preferred to eat outdoors and enjoy the peaceful garden and the uninterrupted view of the hills around Calonge. Again the villa has everything required to prepare a BBQ including a vital BBQ apron!

Our party consisted of grandparents, parents and Ben, aged 5. The garden and pool are very safe and secure and Ben made the most of the pool and all the garden games provided. He will need more lessons before he becomes a confident hammock sleeper and I’m afraid one granddad will not be trying again!

Calonge is also a good base for visiting some beautiful Costa Brava towns such as Pals, Begur and Empuries.

We have no hesitation in recommending this villa. Read the website and the other sincerely expressed views of other guests and be assured that the villa will more than live up to all the descriptions and comments.
