Casa Candia is situated on a sunny hillside belonging to the private urbanisation Vizcondado de Cabanyes, wonderful panoramic view to the Mediterranean sea.The villa is tastefully furnished.There are 2 balconys & 2 terraces with stunning views.The kitchen is well equipped for a family of 6 + a baby,and the adjacent open plan dining and sitting areas are comfortably furnished; French window type doors lead out onto a large patio which joins the patio and lawn in front of the pool. An open log fire.TV- Sky, Astra, Spanish. DVD/VHS, CD/tape-player & radio, Nintendo Wii Station with games & sports.1 TV & Video in ensuite-bedroom; ipod docks in four rooms,a book shelf with 100 varied books.Ping-pong table. 8 sun-lounges,2 garden tables,plenty of chairs, a gas grill, a Weber charcoal grill: Central heating: ventilators for the summer.There are plenty of things to do, and many interesting places to visit. Our agent is in nearby Sant Antonio, and speaks English, German, French and Spanish.

Vizcondado de Cabanyes is a private urbanisation set in the beautiful evergreen Gavarres hills, which lie between the old fishing town of Palamos and the seaside resort Playa d'Aro. Cabanyes is about 4 kms inland from Sant Antonio, near the medieval village of Calonge.The nearest shops are in Calonge 2kms. Nearest beach is at Sant Antonio. The nearest airports are Girona / Ryanair,Barcelona / Easyjet, & Perpignan. The coastline varies from picturesque secluded coves to long stretches of clean sandy beach.There are many good restaurants and there are plenty of things to do, all kinds of sporting activities, and many interesting towns and villages to visit. In the summer there are various festivals, and Barcelona is also only a one and half hour's drive. There is a very good tourist office in Sant Antonio on the main road opposite our agent. Otherwise just relax at home in front of the pool or on the terrace, enjoy a glass of Cava (Spanish Champagne ) and admire the view.

  • The pool is heated from October 1. to June 15. to 28° : the pool is not heated during the summer months. A reduction of one hundred Pounds will be made if heating is not required during the months of October to June. Changeover day is Saturday: again in the winter it might be possible to be flexible, depending on the number of bookings.
    Payments :- 30% within 2 weeks of booking; 30% 90 days before renting begins; 40% 30 days before renting begins.
    Cancellations :- 180 days before renting begins, the owner retains 10%; 90 days before renting begins, the owner retains 50%; Cancellation takes place 30 days before renting begins, owner retains 75%; Cancellation after 30 days before renting begins, the owner retains 100%.
  • Deposit to cover damages of 200 Pounds, payable with the final rent installment, which will be returned within 30 days of the clients departure.
    It is advisable to take out a cancellation insurance for the period required.
  • ENGLISH CLIENTS MAY PAY INTO AN ENGLISH BANK ACCOUNT.

Notes: The INDOOR SWIMMING POOL has also become very popular in summer, after some scepticism at first.The pool faces south and collects the sun during the day. The large glass doors slide open enabling one to move freely in and out: This is excellent for children ( and adults ) who can swim all day without worrying about the ever increasing dangers of having too much sun. The doors open onto a patio and lawn where there is more than ample space for 6 people to enjoy lying in the sun, or the shade under one of the palm trees. The pool is of course heated for guests during the months from October to mid-June. The barbecue is kept in the garage, and can be used outside where ever you wish, provided all safety precautions are considered. There is also a ping-pong table. The garden is a bit steep in places, and we do not consider it suitable for children under 6 years.

Although the weather hasn't been great the villa was a real home from home, in a fantastic location and with all the amenities we needed. The children made full use of the pool and the fact that it was indoors meant we were all able to use it even when it wasn't sunny. Best wishes Craig. Eating : There are plenty of excellent opportunities for wining and dining. From Monday to Friday it is possible to have a good midday meal for 9 to 15 Euros, this is generally a three course meal ( often 3 different choices for each course ) and sometimes includes not only bread, but water,wine and coffee too. Midday meals are from 13.00 h. untill 15.30 h. and evening dining begins at 20.00 h. Many restaurants are non-smoking, but one has to check at the door. Palamos has a variety of very good restaurants,bars and tapas bars (Moni 's tapas-bar!! ) Also along the sea front at Sant Antonio there is a good selection of restaurants where one can sit outside; even an Irish pub for those who miss their Guinness. Playa d'Aro also has some good restaurants, as well as the usual fast food: pizza and burgers etc. Shopping - eating at home:- there is a good super market in Calonge and others are 1 to 2 kms further down the road; there are also daily markets, which rotate from town to town.

Places of interest: The charming picturesque fishing villages of LLAFRANC, CALELLA,TAMARIU are lovely and also enjoy a variety of excellent restaurants: the fantastic views from the lighthouse above Llafranc at Cap de Sant Sebastian,where one can dine at the El Far Hotel high above the sea: are all not to be missed. PALS is a superbly preserved and reconstructed medieval village, very pretty, and best visited early in the morning before everyone else arrives. LA BISBAL - best known for its Catalan ceramics industry (there are dozens of shops), PALAFRUGEL, BEGUR, SANT FELIU are all worth a visit. Further afield, the Dali museum at FIGUERES, the Dali house at Port Lligat near CADAQUES ( one has to book a time ,Tel.972 25 83 15) and the small castle where Dali's wife Gala lived at PUBOL on the way to Girona, are all very interesting. Girona itself also has alot to offer, with many different shops, a cathedral and an interesting old town. In the summer there are music festivals at PERELADA and at Cap Roig.

Other Activities: motorboat, go-carting, mini-golf, crazy-golf, jetskiing, waterpark with waterslides, snorkling.

Hello again, Many thanks for the refund. We had a great time at the house. The setting was lovely and we all thought the pool was fabulous. The October weather, though mostly dry, would certainly not have tempted us in to an outdoor pool but we swam all day in the warm! The ping pong table was great extra too and running down and up the drive was good exercise! -- we left you with some new balls.

This was a great villa with fantastic views and pleasent smell of the pine forest that is in the distance. The heated pool was good and encourged us to swim each day. The villa was clean and well maintained. The management company who look after the property were very helpful & informative. The area is peaceful and sedate & we would recommend this villa to anyone wanting to get away from the 'tourist' Spain.

Casa Candida: rundum empfehlenswert *****

Es ist ja nicht so einfach nach nur ein paar Bildern im Internet einen Eindruck von einem Ferienhaus zu bekommen, aber in Falle von Casa Candia wurden wir nicht enttäuscht. Die Ausstattung ist funktionell und überkomplett, das Haus ist sauber und gepflegt. Platz gibt es genug, 2 Badewannen, 3 WC, 3 Doppelbetten. Hier ist von der Einrichtung her - über die Beschreibung hinaus - alles vorhanden was man braucht oder auch nicht: Backofen, Kaffeemaschine, Toaster, TV, DVD, Sat, WLAN, Sonnenliegen und mehr. Den Fernseher haben wir in 14 Tagen nicht einmal angemacht, der Blick ins Tal bis zum Meer von den diversen Terrassen ist einfach schön, leider kann man nicht überall gleichzeitig sitzen. Aber wenn man will kann man sich auch aus dem Weg gehen. Eidechsen tagsüber im Garten und Geckos am Abend können auch unterhaltsam sein.
Es gibt 3 verschiedene Steckdosentypen und nicht jeder Stecker passt überall. Adapter sind vorhanden, aber man kann ruhig einen zusätzlich mitnehmen.
Das Schwimmbad ist schön groß und mit den großen Schiebetüren ist man vom Wetter unabhängig. Kinder unter ca. 1,35m müssen schwimmen können.
Eine Tischtennisplatte bietet die Möglichkeit zur sportlichen Betätigung. Auch bieten sich Spaziergänge durch die Siedlung an.
Das Haus liegt ruhig auf halber Hanglage, die Grundstücke sind alle recht großzügig bemessen, der Nachbar schaut einem hier nicht auf den Teller. Sehr schön ist auch der üppig bewachsene Garten mit mehreren Terrassen.
Die zuständige Hausverwaltung vor Ort ist nett und hilfsbereit.
Wer zum Strand will, der braucht zwischen 10 und 30 min - je nach Geschmack des bevorzugten Strandtyps. Kleine nette Buchten liegen z.B. um Begur und sind in eben in 20 bis 30 min. zu erreichen.
Wer am Abend Action braucht ist im 7 km entfernten Platja D'Aro gut aufgehoben muß aber eben fahren. Gut Essen kann man in zahlreichen Restaurants in der Gegend, im Haus gibt es eine Reihe von Empfehlungen dazu vom Eigentümer.
Shoppen kann man schön in Girona, da lohnt auch ein Besuch der Kathedrale.
Kurzum: uns hat es als Familie mit einer 11 jährigen Tochter uneingeschränkt gefallen und wir würden auf jeden Fall gerne wieder hinfahren!
