Water park, shopping and market in Almunecar(5km). Affordable pricing and great winter value. Coastal cliff walks from front door. Mountains and caves close by. Marina del Este is 1 hour east of Malaga and 1hr 15 mins south of Granada both towns have int. airports. There are inexpensive bus services to La Herradura from both airports changing in Malaga and Granada respectively. A taxi prebooked from La Herradura will cost about 65 Euros. The marina nestles in a cove at the foot of the mountains. The marina and the adjoining bay of La Herradura offer beaches, restaurants and shops all set in traditional Spanish village surroundings (0.75-1.75 km). The neighbouring town of Almunecar is 4 Km away and provides good shopping, a weekly Friday market and a seasonal water park. We would recommend a hire car for airport transfers, shopping trips, visits to caves, mountains, waterfalls, Water Park etc. The better known town of Nerja is 12 km away with its famous caves. Granada, Alhambra Palace and the Sierra Nevada ski resort are an hour away.

Lovely apartment with superb views

This is a lovely apartment - well laid out, appointed and maintained. It is light and airy with a lovely balcony overlooking the marina and then out to sea. Both bathrooms have good showers with lots of hot water. The air conditioning is easy to regulate and certainly makes a visit in high summer more comfortable.

The pool is a good size and is suitable for both swimming and sunbathing, with a good number of loungers and umbrellas.

Having the owners on hand is useful in the event of any problems (although we didn't have any).

We enjoyed visiting a range of beaches (good swimming) and there are lots of good restaurants in the area (although a car is needed). Tennis courts nearby. Not sure there would be enough activities for teenagers.

Would recommend the apartment to friends.
