La Herradura is an excellent starting point for you to explore the natural beauty of this area. There are many beaches and isolated coves to visit and it is only a 15 minute drive to Nerja and 10 minutes to the bustling, traditional town Almunecar. La Herradura is popular for a wide range of sporting and water sport activities that you can enjoy and is there is a good selection of chiringuitos, bars, restaurants and shops that cater for all ages and tastes. In the beach side village of La Herradura you will find banks, ATM machines, a post office, pharmacies, dentists and a health centre. There are also a number of supermarkets and the villages municipal market has numerous stalls with fresh daily produce including fruit and vegetables, fish, meat, cheese and bakery. In the village there is a variety of restaurants to suit all tastes many along the beach but some also in other parts of the town. There are numerous tapas bars and bars offering live music during the summer season and also a couple of small discos near the beach. Around the village are a range of shops, art galleries etc. Almuñecar, just five minutes away, has a good range of shops, a weekly market and restaurants serving cuisine from all round the world.

Outside: Communal Pool which is shared between a small number of apartments. A barbecue facility is available also at the poolside. Paddle Tennis, Basketball court. Landscaped gardens.

Coast/Beach: Only a 3 minute drive to the beach of La Herradura which runs the full 2km width of the magnificent horseshoe bay that gives the village of La Herradura its name. A string of beach bars, restaurants and shops service most of the beach and there are plenty of water sports to choose from. There are approx 25 beaches along the shoreline of Almunecar and La Herradura, ranging from secluded coves to both towns main beach fronts. Most can easily be reached by car.

Special interest holidays: The area offers wide range of sporting activities including diving due to the stunning sea bed and marine life. Windsurfing, sailing, kayaking, jet skiing are also on offer. The area is also popular for hiking, horse riding, mountain biking, canyoning, skiing and paragliding.

Ski: The apartment is a just a 75 minute drive to the Sierra Nevada ski resort. Located above Granada, it has the best snow and the longest season in Spain. You can look forward to five months of snow. Sierra Nevada has 61km of ski slopes with 45 pistes and 6 off-piste routes. There are 2 cable cars, 12 chair lifts and 5 ski lifts. The ski resort is open from 9am to 5pm although you can ski at night at weekends and bank holidays.

Golf: Within 30 minutes drive you can arrive at either Los Mariscos golf courses which is situated between Salobrena and Motril or Baviera Golf which is near Velez Malaga.

L'appartement est idéal pour une famille de 4 personnes ou pour 2 couples. Laura est très accueillante et serviable. L'appartement est dans un quartier résidentiel calme. Un véhicule est nécessaire pour rejoindre le centre de la Herradura. La Herradura est l'un des derniers villages de la cote andalouse à être préservé des promoteurs immobiliers. Une réserve naturel est à 3 km avec de très belles plages sauvages. (très rare en Andalousie)

Great holiday in La Herradura

We stayed the 2nd week of May when the weather was just perfect. The apartment was bright and spacious with all modern conveniences for self catering. We enjoyed breakfast and lunch in sunshine on the balcony and caught the hot afternoon sun at the poolside. We also had great fun on the tennis court, racquets supplied. The owner is friendly and very helpful as are his great neighbours living closeby. The area offers all kinds of activities and there are many interesting places to visit, which are outlined in a well researched information booklet. Great place for young children. Car is essential.

El Bacon, La Hurradura

We spent a very good week at El Bacon. We particularly liked La Hurradura and the surrounding countryside. The apartment was spacious, modern, clean and comfortable. The pool area was well maintained and there were lovely views of the bay. We would suggest the use of a car as the town centre and shops are too far to walk.
