Just outside Puntalón village - 3kms from Motril. Comprising three independent dwellings; the original Cortijo used by the owner, CASA PEQUEÑA a traditional garden cottage and EL APARTAMENTO a more modern apartment. All set in mature sub-tropical gardens, both private and relaxing with sea and mountain views. Discover many attractions in the area; La Alpujarra, Orgiva, Granada /Alhambra, not forgetting the nearby resort towns of; Salobreña, Almuñecar & Nerja. Further afield, Sevilla, Cordoba & the Sierra Nevadas. Close by, discover the rugged Granada coast many other small resorts, sunny beaches & tapas bars. Dining terrace/balcony with BBQ, furnished for 4 travellers. Spiral staircase up to large sun-deck (40sqm) with 360º views; tan from dawn 'til dusk then catch the sunsets & starry skies with a bottle of Rioja. Entering the spacious living room through gated area, find all creature comforts;multi-language satellite TV + Sky free-to-air, hi-fi, Wireless Broadband (bring your laptop), DVD, large sofa & double sofa-bed. American breakfast bar separates the well equipped kitchen area with all mod cons. Airy double bedroom with king size iron bedstead. Lovely views over the gravel garden, fountain & Granada coastline. Modern fully tiled bathroom, with bath & shower over - good views East across to Puntalón village. All windows have wooden shutters, furnished for full time living. GENERAL: Puntalón 0.5kms has a small church, 3 simple bars and a restaurant. However, for everyday needs best to use Motril 3kms a thriving Spanish market town with excellent shops, numerous restaurants/bars, cinema/theatre and some nightlife. Also a large municipal swimming pool complex, plus family aqua-park in Almuñecar. The owner lives in the Cortijo, along with 2 well behaved & friendly dogs. And is happy to advise on activities/excursions in the area, comprehensive house book & selection of maps/guide books available. The Cortijo is both a convenient base for touring Andalucia and a relaxing place to unwind. CAR ESSENTIAL.

CLIMATE: Cortijo Nuevo, can be enjoyed differently through each season. WINTER is short, December-February, often Sunny & warm by day - cooler in the evenings. Snow & frosts never experienced on the coast, temperature rarely drops below 55°f. Most chance of rain in November - possible to eat in the garden, even at Christmas! SPRING late February - May. Temperature starts to warm, feels like British Summer - abundance of wild flowers/blossom on hillsides, evenings are light. SUMMER June - September, hot & dry - NO rain. Although as the Cortijo is at sea level & very near to the coast, benefits from any breeze passing! Adopt Spanish hours, siesta in the afternoon - dine at sunset & stay up late by the pool! AUTUMN October/Nov, rather like British Summer - can still be warm, cooler in the evenings. Excellent time for touring, visiting historical Malaga, Granada, Sevilla, Ronda avoiding the Summer traffic!

'El Apartamento is very comfortable and homely with character. It is built over the owner's home but separate and private, self-contained and well equipped (bit like going to stay with a relative). There are nice views from the balcony area. The owner, Patrick was very friendly and helpful and very unhurried. We were not disturbed, but he was usually around to help round the clock. We went to relax and that is what we did. We has full use of Patrick's tropical garden which was very interesting (Patrick has a passion for ornament & is always coming back from town with something of interest). We enjoyed use of the swimming pool, but the pool area was being improved during our visit (quiet time of year). There should be some new pictures on the website by Christmas. We did not want a touristy town & the area was interesting to see how the local people live. The trip from Malaga airport in our little hire car was straightforward. We needed the car to take full advantage of the location. Now we know where Tesco get their cucumbers. Nearly forgot to mention 2 well behaved dogs, Ben & Jerry, who love food and friendly but were never troublesome. Well done Patrick and kind regards to your Dad (so be it!).'

An Hidden Gem!

Cortijo Nuevo was an oasis! El Apartmento is reminiscient of a quaint English cottage with all the exotic touches that remind you that you are in the heart of authentic Andalucian countryside. Mere minutes away is the town of Motril, as well as other seaside towns and beaches near the Mediterranean!
Although the little farmhouse and gardens are surrounded by the white roofs of greenhouses that have taken over the landscape - they are not a distraction. Actually, on your way into the property you'll think "where the heck are we going", but you will be pleasantly surprised. Once you're in the gates of Cortijo - with its high walls - you are transported into a spa-like setting of luscious tropical gardens, terraces, a pool, and fountains. Even the dogs, Ben and Jerry, are a charming addition to the space and not a bother at all. Patrick - the host and owner - is a perfect gentleman and there to help with anything, but very inconspicious unless called upon.
This is a place for people who like a home-like space in an authentic Spanish space. It is not the "spic and span" of a high-end hotel and is not for people who prefer the antiseptic feel of a condo. But if you've come to Spain to "feel" like you're in Spain - then you'll love this heaven!
The apartment is fully equipped - kitchen has everything - and even has some grocery supplies to make settling in easy if you haven't got to the store yet. Patrick runs this on an honour system - meaning if you use something up, please replace it (i.e. spices, oils, beer, etc...) - that includes the poolside fridge stocked with drinks. We appreciated this policy as we had so much available for cooking! This apartment had everything needed - a cooler, mats, and umbrellas for the beach, fans, towels, TV, video, movies, books, info of the area, a gorgeous rooftop private terrace for an evening wine to watch the sun set, and that stocked kitchen! It is very much like a home - with every thing you might need! A gem! An oasis! Thank you Patrick, Ben and Jerry - we'll be back!

Wonderful holiday! apartment near the sea, tucked away in a green oasis - loved breakfast at swimming pool in the sun on January 1st !!!! Everything - apartment, outside, inside, roof terrace and garden - just nice, carefully and beautifully done, cosy warm (=heating:) - we just loved it and want to come back !!

A Real Oasis

The Apartment was very spacious and well-equipped. It was ideal for a couple looking for a reclusive holiday. The new roof terrace provided excellent sun-bathing opportunities with it's great views of the sea, surrounding countryside and the foothills of the Sierra Nevada.
The garden was also a real oasis, even in Winter.

Brilliant stay....

We had a brilliant stay at El Apartamento, the apartment was great. Kitted out with everything that we could need on our 2 week stay. Gardens were beautiful and the swimming pool and barbecue area were lovely on the warmer days, nice to be surrounded by so many colourful plants and shrubs. Ben and Jerry were our firm friends by the end of the stay, both great with our 3 year old Son also. Patrick was fantastic, very helpful with anything he could do and the welcome pack was well beyond expectations, enough to feed us for the first few days!
All in all we had a super holiday, hope to go back again some day for more of the same! Love to Ben and Jerry Patrick and best wishes to you.
