La Herradura is a small unspoilt town with local shops, restaurants and water sports including a diving centre. Surrounded by the Cerro Gordo mountains and National Park, ideal for walkers, horse riding, biking, nature lovers, artists and writers. It is also famous for paragliding. It has a small daily market for fresh produce and a good bakery. Akmunecar is the nearest town about 15 minutes away. Malaga is about an hour away, great for shopping, dining out or visiting the Picasso museum, the port and parks. Granada in the opposite direction is famous for the Alhambra Palace and its Moorish architecture, also traditional flamenco held late at night in the caves below the Alhambra. Further along from Granada are the Sierra Nevada mountains with a ski resort for skiing in season. From Algeciras you can take the ferry to Tangiers, Morocco for something different. La Herradura is a pretty part of the world still to simply sit back and relax and enjoy
