Casa Abuela is situated in the lower barrio of Pinos del Valle, a peaceful and unspoiled village of white-washed houses in the lush Lecrin Valley. The house is entered through a plant-filled patio with a pergola that offers a shady spot for dining in the summer. The house has been completely renovated and offers a comfortable base for touring the surrounding area or for just enjoying the slow pace of local life. There is a large roof terrace partly shaded by a pergola which is ideal for sunbathing and enjoying the views over the nearby citrus orchards and the foothills of the Sierra Nevada or for star gazing in the warm evenings.

Pinos del Valle is situated in the peaceful Lecrin Valley, midway between the city of Granada and the coastal resorts of the Costa Tropical. Access to surrounding areas is easy via the Granada-Motril motorway and you can be exploring Granada, visiting the Alhambra, lazing on the beach at Salobrena or in the mountains of the Alpujarras all within 30 minutes of leaving the house. You can also access golfing within 30 minutes or skiing in the Sierra Nevada in an hour or so.

Notes: Heating is by woodburning stove and portable electric heaters. Firewood is available through our English speaking representative who lives close by and electric fans are available for the summer. There is parking available next to the house. The downstairs patio has a dining table with pergola for shade and the roof terrace has sun loungers, table and chairs a barbeque and a pergola for shade. The inside landing to the roof terrace is also where the washing machine, iron and ironing board are located. Bed linen and towels are provided but please bring your own beach towels. On the day of departure please vacate the house by 12 noon unless previously agreed with our representative in Spain.

Pinos: Pinos is a traditional working village and the pace of life is slow. There are 3 bars, a bank, 2 chemists, bakery and 3 grocery shops and all necessities can be bought in the village. Bread and fish vans call daily to the street and announce themselves by tooting. An interesting walk is the 45 minutes to the shrine which is perched high above the village and has wonderful panoramic views over the valley. Hard going but worth it when you get there! Available in the house is a series of further local walks in surrounding villages, local information and a good selection of videos, DVD's CD's, books and board games.

The Lecrin Valley: There are several small villages scattered throughout the valley with some good restaurants, the nearest being 10 minutes away in Lecrin where there is also a good public swimming pool and small supermarkets. The area is excellent for walking and the GR7 footpath into the Alpujarras starts nearby. 15 minutes away is the spa town of Lanjaron with bars/restaurants and shops. This is also the gateway to the spectacular scenery and mountain villages of the Alpujarras.

Further information: It is a 30 minute drive to the city of Granada with it's Moorish Albaicin quarter and the fabulous World Heritage site of the Alhambra Palace and Generalife gardens, which are a must!. It is an easy 30 minutes drive to the coast and the beaches of the Costa Tropical, ranging from the tourist resort of Nerja in the west to the quiet fishing village of Castell de Ferro in the east. The Sierra Nevada is very accessible (within an hours drive from the house) for skiing and snowboarding in season. More recently golf clubs have opened in Granada and Motril on the coast. With the introduction of flights into Granada Airport, Casa Abuela is now even more accessible, as the drive from the airport to the village is only a half an hour or so.

A peaceful and quiet cottage for a relaxing break.

Comfortable property with all the facilities you might need, either in the house or on the doorstep. Plus points are the roof terrace and garden at ground level which between them give lots of options for being outside regardless of time of the day or weather (hot or very hot).

A small piece of advice; don't try to drive to the house in a wide car.

We have recently had an excellent week at Case Abuela in Pinos del Valle. The whole holiday was made enjoyable from the start by the owners who were easily contactable, provided clear travel directions and information on local amenities/places of interest etc. The house itself was extremely comfortable, clean and equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing holiday.

The surrounding area is beautiful, the view from the house terrace is spectacular and there are many places of interest to visit locally. There are also great beaches within a 30 minute drive and good local restaurants. We will definitely be returning.

Mi estancia en "Casa Abuela", durante mis vacaciones, ha sido una experiencia muy agradable, divertida y relajante a la vez. Las vistas alrededor de la casa son increíbles y esta pintoresca aldea española, en el corazón de Andalucía, ofrece una gran hospitalidad y el poder "saborear" cómo es la vida tradicional dentro de un pueblecito español (algo que es imposible de vivir en otros sitios turísticos en España donde la gran mayoría de turistas son extranjeros).

"Casa Abuela" ofrece grandes ventajas, entre ellas: está a 30 minutos tanto de Granada ciudad ( donde se encuentra la famosa Alhambra) como de las playas de la Costa del Sol(Salobreña, Almuñécar,..), ambas en coche.

La casa está muy limpia, bien conservada, completamente amueblada, cocina bien equipada, TV, video, juegos, películas,.... todo eso que podrías necesitar para hacer tu estancia más agradable.

En cuanto a los trámites para la reserva de "Casa Abuela", no tuve ningún problema, al contrario. La reserva es a través de internet y si tienes alguna duda los dueños son muy agradables y educados y te atenderán rápidamente.

I found my stay at The Casa Abuela to be a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday. The views surrounding the house are stunning and this quaint traditional village offers hospitality as well as an insight into authentic Spanish living (something I have been disappointed by on other holidays in Spain where I have found the majority of the community to be foreign) .

With the breath-taking city of Granada (home to the Alhambra) a 30 minute drive, and the beach of Almuñécar a 30 minute drive, The Casa Abuela offers both a cultural experience in the heart of Andalucia and golden beaches with the Costa del Sol climate as a splendid bonus.

The property itself is clean, has been well maintined, and is fully furnished and well equiped with basic cooking ingredients, videos, games... all that you would need to make your stay enjoyable.

In regards to contact with the owners - the majority of my booking was conducted via the internet - but from the contact that I did have I found them to be polite, professional, and quick to offer assistance.
