Hazards etc. & poor customer service

Our birthday group of 7 adults stayed for 8 nights in this villa which is situated between La Herradura and Almunecar. If arriving for the first time, then finding it during darkness hours by car could be hazardous – there is a steep & occult drop just as you turn off the N340 after passing La Herradura, and the only villa parking available is adjacent to an unlit precipitous edge. The property was moderately clean but NOT well maintained. We found the listing description misleading, in that sleeping facilities in excess of the 3 private bedrooms were poor and very ad-hoc. We had serious issues with customer service, which overall was very poor.
Amongst the few things that we liked were: the views from the villa, particularly from the pool/hot-tub/sunny upper balcony breakfast areas; the relative proximity to local & regional areas of interest, such as nearby Cotobro beach and also local sailing charters from Marina del Este. Nerja, the Alpujarras villages, and Granada, were all within an easy 30-90 minutes by car.
Things we didn’t like: no initial answers to e-mail enquiries regarding the non-return of our deposit (3 months elapsed), and when challenged subsequently no evidence presented to support an inconsistent explanation and decision for non-return of deposit. Other things that we didnt like were: cockroaches-a-plenty in the bathrooms; insufficient hot water for (even staggered) morning showers; 2 of the 3 TV’s didn’t work; the smaller of the 2 kitchens only had a microwave & kettle cooking facilities; the initial unavailability of extra-keys (so that all guests could access the main kitchen); the oven in the larger kitchen was not fit for purpose and had a tendency to burn everything (its 2 functional temperatures seemed to be either ‘Off’ or ‘230C’); in the smaller of the 2 halves of the rented villa, the living room doubles up as a bedroom, with little or no privacy (saloon doors, adjacent to kitchen); the advertised ‘private staircase/path access to the beach’ (‘for the adventurous’) was impassable; heavy unsecured pineapple sculptures on the upper balcony were hazardous to persons below.
Overall a good location with a nice hot tub but we would not recommend this particular villa/property to anyone else, mainly because of poor customer service.

Owner's Response: The Villa is a wonderful place to enjoy and relax during your holiday. This is a 5 Star resort! We do not intent to be one either. We have honesty presented the Villa as you see it on the web site. The statements about the Villa are just not true. If complaints are received on site, we deal with immediately. A project manager is on call 24/7.
This Birthday party got a great deal for the 8 days, it seemed to have got out of control! The damage in the Villa was proof.
The Villa is listed as self catering.
Daily cleaning, changing of beds and towels, kitchen and bar personal can be arranged for an up charge. These guests were under the impression "all including"!
Deposits can only be returned when guests provide a Swift Code and IBAN number for the transaction.
We can't please everyone, all the time, no matter how hard we try!
We make an honest effort to make your vacation as pleasant as possible during your stay.
