The house is situated in the development of La Aldea (translated as The Village), where each house has been individually designed to create the feeling of a typical Spanish village - no two houses are the same. The communal grounds and pool are beautifully maintained. The house has been furnished and equipped to a very high standard with everything necessary for an enjoyable holiday, including partial air conditioning and central heating. La Aldea is perched on a headland, Punta de la Mona, overlooking the village of La Herradura on one side and the beautiful Marina del Este on the other. This property is on the upper level, close to the lighthouse and adjacent to a designated area of natural beauty, which provides pleasant walks. There are many beaches close by and the village of La Herradura with its variety of bars and excellent restaurants is within walking distance. There is also a good local taxi service and a bus service to the nearby town of Almunecar.

La Herredura is a picturesque village fronted by a 2km beach and with a number of other beaches with in 2-3km. It has all watersports and numerous excellent restaurants. It is close to Granad (40min) and also the ski resort of Sierra Nevada (almost 100km of pistes) as well as being under an hour by motorway from Malaga Airport. The alpujarras villages are a short drive (40-50min) and there are a number of national parks nearby. Almost every sport is catered for in the area including diving, parapente, cycling and mountain biking, sailing and windsurfing, hillwalking, horseriding, quad biking, golf and many more. Nightlife in La Herredura is lively during the summer but the village does not attract clubbers or package holidays and is very family orientated. The nearby town of Almunecar is well worth visiting with Roman remains and good shopping and a couple of lively squares surrounded by bars and restaurants. People who visit La Herradura often return again and again.

Notes: Two of the bedrooms are ensuite and have air conditioning/heating, with a further bathroom adjacent to the third bedroom. The terrace is fully equipped with a large telescopic parasol, table and eight chairs for al fresco dining. Towels are provided for use in the house - guests must provide their own beach towels. Heaters are fitted in the bedrooms and sitting room - also fire may be lit. All rooms have ceiling fans which are very effective during the summer months. Maid service provided weekly for stays of more than one week. Welcome packs can be provided on request. Scuba-diving excellent in area. House: The house is built in townhouse style on two levels. Upstairs there is a utility room with washing machine, large dining/lounge with doors on to large upper terrace which is fully equipped with table, chairs, loungers and barbeque. Also on this floor there is a fully fitted kitchen (also with access to the terrace), twin bedroom and bathroom. Downstairs consists of one twin bedroom with en suite bathroom and one double bedroom with king size bed and en suite bathroom. Both bedrooms lead onto a smaller terrace. The floors throughout are white marble. The house provides a high level of comfort but remains child friendly

The Area: La Herradura is a small village which has developed around a horseshoe shaped bay with over 1 mile of beach. It is approx. 1 hour from Malaga, 15 minutes from Nerja, 10 minutes from the beautiful town of Almunecar with its castle, roman ruins, winding streets and popular Friday market, 1 hour from Granada, 1.5 hours from skiing at Sierra Nevada and 1 hour from the white villages of the Alpujarras. There are many beaches to choose from within a short drive of La Aldea with water sports available on the beach at La Herradura. The area has many excellent restaurants but does not have a frantic nightlife!

Car recommended: Because of its situation a car is essential, both to explore this beautifully unspoilt part of Spain and for day to day journeys to and from the village. We will be pleased to recommend a car hire company which we have found to be very reliable with lower prices than any others we have used.

Ski: Execellent skiing is available at Sierra Nevada, approximately one and a half hours drive away.

Golf: There are several golf courses in the area with the closest being at Salobrena - approximately 15 minutes drive away and others at Nerja - approx. 20 mins drive.

Other Activities: skiing at Sierra Nevada, approx. 1.5 hours drive
