La Aldea :
Is an exclusive development which sits perched on the promontory know as the Punta de la Mona. To the east of the Punta lies the village of La Herradura (see below) and to the west lies Marina del Este, both offer clean beaches, restaurants, bars & shops. There are 3 golf courses with a half hour drive, and in the skiing season (December - April), Sierra Nevada can be reached in 1.5 hours. Scuba diving schools located in the village.
Locality:
La Herradura (translated as The Horseshoe) aptly describes the curved bay between the headlands of Cerro Gordo and Punta de la Mona. The village of La Herradura has retained its Spanish character and unlike other built up areas in Southern Spain, has remained unspoilt by tourism. Whilst there is a good selection of restaurants and traditional Spanish bars, those seeking a wild nightlife will be disappointed! The village does however have some small supermarkets, banks, a newsagent, medical services, pharmacy, hairdressers and a fresh food market each morning.
Car recommended:
A car will be necessary for supply trips to the village (approx. 1 kilometre) and for exploring the area in general. There is plently of space outside the house for parking.
Other Activities:
Skiing at Sierra Nevada 1.5 hrs away. 3 Golf courses within 30 mins drive.
