When is best to come here?:
Some seasonal observations for La Herrería: Skiing in the Sierra Nevada, December to April. You can eat your Christmas dinner just outside in the sun. Between Christmas and New Year is a good time to pick the olives. The almonds bloom through January and February. We open the pool again for Semana Santi (or Easter, if you like). Then there are the processions in nearby Motril. April, May and June, with lovely warm weather and green landscape for hiking, horseback riding or bicycling. July, August is too hot during the day for sports activities, except in the swimming pool or on the beach. The nights are for barbecue and sangria; wonderful and completely free of urban noise. September means the end of school holidays in Spain, the beaches are empty, but the water can stay warm until November. In December and January, the evenings and the nights can be a bit chilly, and we make fire in our wood-burning oven.
Golf in Motril:
The nearest golf course is 'Los Moriscos Club de Golf 'in Motril. It was founded in 1974. Players can enjoy the view of the sea and very contrasting surroundings. The resort has spacious greens, two lakes and mango and papaya trees. It is a 9-hole course with a flat terrain and water hazards. The difficulty level is regarded easy to medium. The club is open all year. There is also a practice driving/putting range. We have a full set of clubs for rent.

Costa Tropical:
The Costa Tropical is climatically unique in Europe, because the Sierra Nevada protects against the cold winter inland winds, while the warm winds from North Africa reach the coast all year. There is a subtropical climate with 320 sunny days a year, which makes year-round cultivation of exotic fruits such as dates, pineapples and bananas possible. For tourists, the coast is interesting in summer as well as in winter. Because of he special climate water sports, such as surfing, are possible in winter as well as in summer. The nearby Sierra Nevada provides excellent winter sports opportunities. The rugged landscapes in Costa Tropical are ideal for rambling. Cliffs, coves and long sandy beaches impress with their beauty and in the villages there are traces of earlier settlements by different cultures.
