Andalucian farmhouses with large tropical garden and private pool

Casa del Pino and Cortijo Acasia are two converted Andalusian farmhouses in a large, mature tropical garden in the hills below Sierra Lugar (just south of Sierra Nevada). The houses share the lush garden, where you can wander, sit and read, play with the children, and be grateful for the shade given by the large eucalyptus, acacias, palms and cactus's. If you do not want to go out for a meal, why not make a barbecue-party in your own, enclosed and private loggia, or out in the communal garden. The grand (30ft diameter) round pool is always tempting, even in the middle of the night. The property is fully enclosed and safe. You only have 15 min to Motril with all shopping facilities, one hour to Granada and the Alhambra (organise tickets in advance to avoid the large queues) and 15 min to the nearest beaches. We live on the property throughout the year and are here to welcome you, and make sure your stay is as pleasant as possible.

Unlike the other 'costas', Costa Tropical in Southern Spain has remained unspoiled with clean beaches, sea and no high-rise hotels. This is still a traditional agricultural working area. Typical crops are cherimoyas (custard apple), mangoes, avocados, bananas, citrus fruits, tomatoes, cucumbers and excellent potatoes. Motril is beautifully surrounded by beaches and its harbour to the south and the massive Sierra Nevada mountain range to the north (now covered in snow). The 'white' village Salobreña is only 5 minutes drive to the west, and to the east lies Almeria and Cabo de Gato with its strange volcanic landscape. Due to its unique micro-dry climate and over 320 days of sun per year, it offers an average year round temperature of 20 degrees. According to the World Health Organisation this area can truly claim: 'The healthiest climate in Europe and second in the world' 'Almost as perfect an environment as is possible to obtain'.

Skiing in Sierra Nevada

Sierra Nevada is only about an hour away with excellent skiing at all levels. The season starts early December and lasts till late April. Why not combine skiing with a Christmas holiday in the sun? We are all keen skiiers and could show you around if time permits.
