A rural village removed in time from modern Andalucia and the rest of Spain. Arranged around a private courtyard, the house sleeps 6 in luxury (10 max). Restored in traditional Moorish style, the house oozes character while lacking for nothing. 2 double bedrooms with Arabic tiled ensuites & original beamed ceilings .1 twin bedroom that converts to a double, great for the kids. If extra accommodation is needed there are 2 extremely comfortable sofa beds. The house has two lounges and a 10 seater dining room. The kitchen (designed by a professional chef) is fully kitted out making cooking a pleasure never a chore. Once cooked, choosing where to eat can be a dilemma ,alfresco on the roof or courtyard or more formally in the dining room After all the hassles of an other day in paradise cool off into the plunge pool under the canopy of the lemon tree.

  • Bedroom 1 is a great double with windows on 3 sides, original chestnut beamed ceiling a beautiful Arabic ensuite wet room and bespoke hardwood built in wardrobes. As an added treat in the winter there is a fantastic wood burning stove. Bedroom 2 is self contained above it's own living room and kitchen, again a beautiful high beamed ceiling and lovely ensuite wet room but this time with it's own balcony over the magnificent courtyard, although your view can be obscured by pomegranates when in season 'ah what a hardship'. Plenty of storage and direct access into the courtyard through your own private entrance. Bedroom 3 setup as 1 double or 2 singles built in hardwood wardrobes, bathroom with toilet, bath, and shower next door. Makes a great room for kids. We also have 2 very comfortable sofa beds if you need extra accommodation. Both are in rooms of their own so you never have to have more than 2 people per room.

Notes:

Part of the houses charm is it's peaceful unspoiled location. A neighbourhood of narrow winding alleys, where mules are the normal mode of transport. You're far more likely to be woken in the morning by cockerels than alarm clocks. The pace of life around here is guaranteed to lower the blood pressure. Unfortunately the trade off is that wheelchair access is impossible. Given that age is often a state of mind, 70 year olds have had no problems with the house in the past. Although if you are unsteady on your feet, the road the house is a little uneven and the house is on three floors. If your idea of a holiday is driving door to door then forget it.

The Lecrin Valley

The Lecrin valley is a veritable oasis of oranges, pomegranates, lemons, almonds, olives and much much more. Known by the moors as the valley of plenty. It was their ingenious irrigation systems (still used to this day) that finally exploited the fertile potential of the valley. Life here today goes on much as it has for the last thousand years. Although people now have other forms of income they still tend their crops enjoying the year round bountiful harvest. The valley is a great base for exploring the fantastic Moorish town of Granada in the north .To exploit the beaches of the Costa tropical, without having to live in holidayville. Or to explore the sierra Nevada mountains, incredible walking in summer or great skiing in winter. On lazy days a stroll around the village or a meander around into the hills is a joy in it's self.
