The Costa Tropical of the Granada province in Spain has some of the most picturesque beaches in Andalusia. Places to holiday in Costa Tropical, Spain

La Herradura is one of the best beaches on the Costa Tropical. It is a quiet, unspoilt and very beautiful beach set in a bay, where time seems to stand still.

The village of Salobrena is an idyllic Andalusian whitewashed town, with a stunning beach and an extremely impressive Moorish castle which attracts visitors from miles around. The town clings to a large rock outcrop set just back from the coastline, providing spectacular views of the sea. The town also provides a great base for skiing in the Alpujarra, and from October to April, you can ski by day, and relax on the beach in the evening! Golf, tennis, mountain biking and fishing is very popular here as well as snorkelling and diving on the hugely successful artificial reef.

Almunecar is an increasingly vibrant beach resort town, but also offers the Loro Sexi bird park, which delights visitors with 1,500 species of birds. There is also a rich history here, with multiple Roman ruins, the San Miguel Castle and Almunecar Castle, with its world famous pottery.

Motril is the largest town on the Costa Tropical. It is the main service provider for the Costa, and is a thriving sport and leisure town, offering easy access to both the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the beaches of the Costa Tropical. Many of the 17 villages in the valley are Moorish in origin, with spectacular architecture and exciting fiestas.
