Very nice traditional apartment with great views

We spent two wonderful weeks at this property at the end of June 09. Communication and booking with the owner was extremely quick and smooth. The property matched its description on the website, but nothing can prepare you for the views - they are just amazing, and even more with a glass of wine on the terrace in the evening. The apartment was clean and well maintained and spacious for 2 people, but even 4 wouldn't feel squeezed in it. Bed linen and towels were provided and there were spare available. The sitting room has TV/DVD/SKy box and a big dining table, but you are much better off eating at one of the 3 terraces. There is lot of local information provided as well and the very friendly owner living in the town is always happy to provide more, if required. There is a good selection of restaurants and bars within a walking or rather 'climbing' distance of the apartment ( Mojacar is built on a steep hill). We can recommend Il Palacio, Arlequine and La Taverna all within 5 mins from the apartment. It is a 2km drive down to the main Mojacar beach, with many beach bars, shops and restaurants, but for more secluded spots head further south out of town beyond Torre de Macenas that can be reached from a dirt track only. There is a frequent bus connection between the town and the beach, bus stop is 5/7min walk from the apartment. Just a few words of warning regarding access to the property: the apartment is located at the end of a narrow cul-de-sac with its own parking area that fits 2 cars maximum. To get there you need to pass along several parked cars, narrow spots and corners at very slow speed and with a lot of caution, so if you want to park your car directly by the apartment every day make sure you are driving a small compact car (e.g. Fiesta, Corsa) and have the appropriate insurance as it is almost impossible to do so without some damage. We drove Peugeot 207 and just managed to squeeze through with both side mirrors folded in and a couple of inches left on both sides between the car and walls. If you do not want to undertake such an ordeal every day you will need to look for a parking space somewhere in town further away from the apartment which can take some time to find. Overall, we can only recommend this apartment to those looking for a traditional accommodation with wonderful views located in the town centre with a good selection of bars and restaurants nearby and not having problems with mobility and somewhat restricted car access.
