Taray is a first floor apartment with a spacious balcony - great views across the spectacular 18-hole Valle Del Este Golf Course to the sea about 4 miles away. Agave is a ground floor duplex with large terrace and garden - close enough to stroll to the infinity-edge pool; far enough to avoid any noise. Both apartments have air-conditioning, lockable outside cupboards (for golf clubs or beach gear!) and their own parking spaces (Agave's is underground). Each one has two bedrooms, lounge/dining room and a separate, well-equipped kitchen. Taray has 1 double bedded room, 1 twin-bedded room and a double sofa bed in the lounge whilst Agave has double beds in both rooms and a double sofa bed in the lounge. A two minute walk brings you to the resort's hotel and commercial centre - for bars & restaurants, a state-of-the-art spa, beauty treatment and fitness centre and paddle courts. Flexible accommodation for golfers, and/or families and friends - great prices for 2008 - even school holidays!

Taray is in an exclusive complex of just 17 apartments which has a lovely communal swimming pool and landscaped gardens. Situated on the first floor, the apartment consists of a large lounge/dining area which seats 4-6 people and has satellite TV (UK channels) and a DVD and CD player; two bedrooms (1 twin-bedded and 1 with a Queen-sized bed) and two bathrooms (one with a bath, shower, sink and WC, the other with a shower, sink and WC). There's a double sofabed in the lounge too, so the apartment can sleep up to 6 people. The separate kitchen is very well-equipped with a microwave, electric cooker and hob. There is air-conditioning in the lounge and ceiling fans in both the bedrooms. The large terrace overlooks the spectacular golf course and is a great place to unwind with a glass of wine - perhaps while mentally working on your swing? Taray is a great place for a holiday for golfers and non-golfers alike!

Extremely accessible, Valle del Este is a wonderful place for a holiday. Situated in one of the warmest and driest regions of Spain, it has 320 days of sunshine a year! The town of Vera is about a five minute drive away and is a typically Spanish market town, dating from the 16th century. Vera Playa (the nearest beach, a ten minute drive, or take the Valle del Este shuttle bus) has 8km of blue flag white sand beaches. The Moorish village of Mojacar is just a few km away and is a picturesque sight of whitewashed buildings and steep and winding, cobbled streets. There is so much to do in the area - scuba diving, visiting 'Mini-Hollywood', (where many spaghetti westerns were filmed), shopping in the local markets, walking in the Cabo de Gata national park, caving at Almanzora, watching the day's catch being landed at Garrucha (famed for its seafood restaurants), splashing about at the Vera water park, exploring Granada on a day-trip - the list is endless!

  • Payment is accepted in pounds sterling or Euros. The weekly rate is for a 7 night stay, starting on any night of the week. Nightly rates are designed for short stays (ie less than 7 nights) and reflect our cleaning costs which remain the same, regardless of your length of stay.
  • BOOKING: A deposit of 50% is required to secure your reservation. The balance is to be paid at least 14 days before your arrival date. DAMAGES: a returnable deposit of 100 Euros (or equivalent in pounds) must be paid by the hirer on a separate cheque at the time of paying the final balance. Payment for any damage, breakages, or missing inventory items i.e. loss of key will be deducted from the damages deposit. The full deposit will be returned to the hirer within two weeks of departure if there are no missing items.

Getting there and around: The closest and most convenient airport is Almeria - a good choice of airlines fly here from the UK (flying time just over two hours). You can hire cars very cheaply and easily (we can recommend a few companies) from the airport and it's a short, very easy 45 minute drive to the resort along the E15 motorway. A car is recommended, to be able to really get the most out of your stay, but if you just want a few rounds of golf and to visit the Beach Club once-in-a-while, it is not absolutely essential. The resort is also extremely accessible from Alicante - a very easy and direct 2 hour drive along the uncongested dual carriageway. A third alternative is Murcia, about an hour's drive away - many charter flights operate here from the UK in the summer.

Golf: The 18 hole, par 71 course was designed by José Canales and opened in 2002. It is a spectacular desert-style course, integrated into the surrounding landscape by clever use of indigenous vegetation. It is consistently getting rave reviews from golfers of all levels. There is a good combination of very challenging holes, with other less strenuous holes. The tees are particularly noteworthy, positioned on small raised platforms surrounded by volcanic rock. The fairways are wide and there are a lot of large sand bunkers on the course as well as 3 lakes and several waterfalls. All in all, a real challenge for any player. Current green fees are around 52-60 Euros with a lot of special offers/packages available at different times of the day and year. There is a driving range, a respected golf school and you can hire buggies (well worth it if you are playing in the heat of summer, but you can do without during the rest of the year and get some more exercise!). Call them directly on 950 398743. In addition there are at least four other courses within an hours' drive - Marina de la Torre in Mojacar (10 minutes), Desert Springs at Cuevas de Almanzora (25 minutes), Cortijo Grande at Turre (30 minutes) and La Envia Golf at Almeria (1 hour).

Spanish Golfing Holiday

Having decided to take a golfing holiday in March, we contacted the owner of Taray (Jo). We found her most helpful and accurate in her description of the apartment, golf, and amenities and she clearly
explained everything we needed to know.

The apartment was spotlessly clean and fully equipped, well above what one would expect. And everything worked! A relief after
several previous experiences.

The views from both balconies are delightful,. There is a
handy little commercial centre only a few minutes away with restaurant, pub cafe, tapas bar, supermarket, etc. The
golf course was in wonderful condition, not overcrowded, though a little testing for 18 - handicappers.

Nearby Vera is a lovely old Spanish town with some fine shops,
bistros and restaurants. Garrucha , a 10 minute drive, also has large supermarkets, bars, etc. and, having a fishing harbour, has some of the very finest fish restaurants. Neither are touristy.

We have already recommended Taray to several of our friends and would do so to anyone. We are going back in late September and are very much looking forward to it.
