Vera Playa holiday apartment: Vera Playa,

We stayed here in June 2009 with our little boy of 3 ½ years, and what we found when we arrived at the complex was an apartment absolutely fully equipped with everything we needed. Rooms are large and bright and the furniture is in very good condition. Everything was clean and well maintained. The kitchen is a dream: we missed nothing (behalf of a coffee machine, but that may be a typical German problem). Enough dishes so you won’t have to do the dish washing after each meal.
The terrace also is quite large and we really loved it to sit there in the evenings with a warm breath on our skins and watching the sunset or reading a book.
The apartment itself is very close to the outdoor pools. The pools are in the middle of a garden complex and are well-tended.
All that can’t be taken for granted: These were our third holidays in privately owned houses in Spain within the last three years, and believe me, this was the best complex by far!
The complex is only a few meters from the next supermarket, a Mercadona, which is quite large and where you will find everything for your daily needs. And another supermarket, the Intermarche, is even open on Sundays (direction Vera, on the left hand side).
The only disadvantage we encountered was the children’s playground which was overall covered with cats’ dirt. That’s a real pity. But there’s another very good playground just outside the complex (next to the primary school/kindergarten).
Having a car when staying here is recommended as the beaches are definitely too far away for a walk, especially with smaller children. But they are great: spacious, sandy and clean, with showers and toilets.
Garrucha with its small port and Mojacar are absolutely worth a visit. Both are quite small but very lovely. And don’t miss to visit one of the local markets! Markets are held round Vera Playa nearly every day and offer a huge variety of fresh fruit and vegetables for a small price.
Last but not least a big compliment and thank you to George (the owner) and Christine (our contact in Vera Playa): George provided us with so many information and hints that really helped us. He even made us aware of the issue with the playground in advance. And Christine is such a kind and helpful person!
We felt really home here and will surely return, probably next year.

We stayed for a week in the townhouse during May this year and had a great time. The house was just as described, very clean and spacious with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The complex and surrounding area is very calm and quiet and there were plenty of parking spaces outside the house for our rental car. Mercadona supermarket is nearby for all the supplies you would need and The El Gnome Feliz pub is within walking distance too.

George was very helpful and answered all our questions before leaving and provided us with clear instructions on how to get to the property. He was even able to recommened a better car rental company than the one we were going to go with which saved us a couple of hundred pounds.

We spent most of our time visiting the local beaches and exploring Mojacar Pueblo. Vera Playa was our favourite Beach and Beach Bar Babel and Aku Aku (great steak) were the best places to eat out.

All in all a great stay. Would definatley recommend to a friend.

We stayed here at the end of May for a week's half term break and really enjoyed it. We have boys of 12 and 14 and so being able to have each of them in a separate bedroom was a big plus for us.

The whole place is very spacious and airy with (unusually for rental apartments) a good sized, well equipped kitchen and sitting/dining room area. There's a full size bathroom with bath/shower and a separate shower room/wc that also makes life a lot easier with teenagers too! The apartment is very close to the complex's pedestrian entrance so there's no problem moving cases or shopping over a long distance and it's really close to the pools too.

These are really good - the swimming pool is a stretched kidney shape and is long enough and deep enough for 'proper' swimming but is also fine for kids games. There's also an adjacent small pool for young children. (I think there's also an indoor pool but we didn't need to use it). Next to this there's a shaded veranda ideal for reading (or sleeping) while the more energetic members of the family tire themselves out.

The complex is only a couple of minutes by car from a really good supermarket and also the junction on the main road to Garrucha/Almeria so getting about is a breeze - although you would certainly need a car, but parking is virtually outside the door so that's not an issue.

Although the complex is quite large we hardly saw anybody else there most of the time and the standard of maintenance of the place was absolutely remarkable. The grass looked like it had been cut with nail scissors and there were always people around cleaning pools, cutting hedges etc.

There's also a play area with swings etc which we didn't use but I'm sure could be handy if you had small kids.

Finally there a large water park about 10 mins drive away where we easily spent a whole day - flumes, wave pools etc. Great value for a family ticket and very reasonable food and drink prices once you were inside

The local beaches are huge and unspoilt with showers etc. but are all close to bars, restaurants etc. and Garrucha (15 mins by car) is a really nice port with good range of restaurants and bars - also a great local market on Fridays.

All in all highly recommended. A very quiet and restful place but not at all remote from all the good stuff you need on holiday - thanks again George!
