Mojacar is an ancient Moorish village perched on the foothills of the Sierra Cabrera Mountains overlooking the Mediterranean coastline. This legendary town, is aptly named and famous throughout Spain as El Rincon del Embrujo, “The Corner of Enchantment”. Visible from many miles away, the distinctive whitewashed sugar cube houses stacked on upon another separated by twisting cobbled streets, winding steps and old arches, offer a surprise around every corner. Restaurants, Bars and Craft and Art shops lie awaiting to be discovered along with the hospitality of the friendly locals. Although the town remains the same as it has for centuries, the relatively recent development of Mojacar Playa, a stretch of wide sandy beaches awarded the EEC blue flag for cleanliness, offers many of the features of a holiday resort including many fine restaurants, bars, hotels and shops catering for all tastes. A short trip along the coast brings you to the mountain coastline of the Cabo de Gata Nature Reserve, offering secluded beaches and coves. Whether it is sailing, fishing, bowling, tennis, golf or water sports that takes your fancy, or simply relaxing on an un-crowded beach soaking up the sun - you'll find it all and more in and around Mojacar.
For golf lovers there are four golf course nearby with full hire facilities. Cortijo Grande, a challenging nine hole course surrounded by the Sierra Cabrera mountains, Golf Torre Marina, an 18 hole par 72 course with sea views and Desert Springs Golf par 72 which is the only desert course in Europe, Valle D·Este a new and very attractive 18 hole course between Garrucha and Vera. All four course within 20 minutes drive of Mojacar Village.
For Winter sports enthusiasts Sierra Nevada can be reached in three hours.
