Bordered by the Tabernas Desert with its dramatic landscapes and warmed by the Mediterranean, Almeria is flavoured with unrivalled average hours sunshine and high temperatures all year round. There are many beautiful villages to explore in and around Mojacar such as Bedar, El Pinar, Nijar and Vera to name but a few. There is also a good day out for the children to 'Mini Hollywood' where many of the famous spaghetti westerns were filmed. Or for something different take a journey to the Sierra Nevada mountains where the skiing is excellent. You might like to take a drive to Granada and see the resplendent Allhambra Palace, but booking is advisable.
There is an abundance os restaurants in and around Mojacar, and in the nearby town of Garrucha you will find the best fish restaurants in Spain. There are also wonderful out door markets in Mojacar and the surrounding areas so whether it is novelties, leather goods, crafts or the freshest produce you will find all these in the daily markets.
Golf:
There are now several golf courses to choose from surrounding Mojacar. So whether you are a novice or professional you will find one that will cater for you. There is a Marina de la Torre, an 18 hole, par 72 course of 5456 m2. There you will find restaurants, bars, shops, buggy rental and professional instruction. Between Vera and Los Gallardos is the new Valle del Este course 18 hole par 71, which includes a fitness club and near Cuevas is the Deserts Springs, the only desert course in Spain with 18 holes, par 72, 6179m2. The Tournament of Knights has just been held there, and it was extremely successful. The course also has all facilities, restaurants, bar etc.
