Casa Cupula is the perfect retreat for relaxation and to use as a base for exploring. With its own private pool it is set in a stunning position, enjoying breathtaking views of the Sierra Cabrera mountains. The spacious villa is set in extensive grounds, with orange, lemon and olive trees. Sleeping up to 6 people, the main house comprises a huge lounge with french doors on two sides, large double bedroom, large shower room, dining room, a well equipped kitchen with oven and hob, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher, plus all the crockery and utensils you could possibly need from bottle opener to garlic press! Across the main terrace is a second bedroom, large bathroom, sitting room, second equipped kitchen, all with its own private terrace. Steps down from the terrace lead to a third bedroom and full ensuite bathroom. The layout makes the house perfect for two or three couples, or a family with teenagers, as it offers a high degree of privacy and plenty of space for everyone.

Nearest Motorway: E15/N340, junction 520 at 5 Kilometres

This superior villa is tucked away in the idyllic Cortijo Grande valley, away from the tourist spots but conveniently situated. The best beaches in Almeria at Mojacar are 10 minutes drive, a mile or two beyond Mojacar village. There is also a 9 hole golf course less than 500 metres away from the villa, and other courses are within a 15 minute drive. Turre (3 kms) is the local village with a modern supermarket and a good choice of family run restaurants offering a wide variety of cuisine, as well as plenty of traditional Spanish. The popular Los Limoneros bar and restaurant is a 3 minute stroll from the villa, handy for those lazy days. A longer walk or 2 minute drive will take you to the golf club. The Arabic style village of Cabrera which you can see from the villa, perched in the mountains, is a short scenic (steep!) drive. There's a bar and an excellent restaurant to reward you, and on a clear day you can see as far as Ibiza.

Notes: The villa is ideally suited to couples, groups or families with older children, as bedrooms 2 and 3 have their own outside access. There is an additional sitting room (with TV and video) adjacent to the second bedroom, and a second kitchen too, with dining table and chairs, equipped with microwave, gas cooker, fridge/freezer. It is virtually a separate apartment. Similarly, down the steps from the terrace, the third bedroom and bathroom forms another separate unit. There are 3 main sitting areas outside - the large terrace off the kitchen, lounge and second bedroom complex, a spacious terrace and rose garden overlooking the golf course leading off the other side of the lounge, and of course, the pool area. So you can follow the sun (or shade!) all day. The washing machine is in the outdoor utility area. The villa is off the road, being approached by a sweeping tree-lined driveway. There is a carport, and secluded driveway parking for several cars.

Nearby Places to Visit and Explore: If you enjoy exploring small Spanish towns, visit Nijar (wonderful craft shops) and quaint Sorbas, where you can see ceramic goods being made by hand. There are caves there to explore too. In Turre, just down the road from Cortijo Grande, there is a good local market on Fridays, and there is a huge market in Vera on Saturdays. Ancient in origin and Arabic in appearance, Mojacar is a large 'sugar cube' village poised on a hillside overlooking the sea. Garrucha is a fishing port where the daily catch arrives to be sold in the local fish market. Needless to say, the fish restaurants there are excellent! The wonderful Cabo de Gata Natural Park is nearby. There's Tabernas desert, the only desert in Europe, where you can visit Mini Hollywood, which was the location for the filming of many spaghetti western movies. There's a lovely castle high above the town too. Lots to do and see! There are various guide books and maps in the villa to help you plan your excursions.

Golf: The fairways of the 9 hole Cortijo Grande golf course wander along the floor of the Cortijo Grande valley and can be seen from the villa. The 18 hole Marina del Torre course at Mojacar is about 10 minutes drive away, and the upmarket clubs of Valle del Este and Desert Springs are also a short drive away.

Airports: Almeria is the nearest, but depending on your departure airport you may find it more convenient to fly into Murcia or Alicante. Alicante, although the furthest from the Mojacar area, is a very easy 2 hour drive door to door, as the airport is adjacent to the motorway. Casa Cupula is minutes from the motorway, so finding your way is really easy.

A super place to stay.

My family have enjoyed two holidays at Casa Capula, in 2007 and 2009.

The location of the villa was ideal for us as we love to 'get away from it all' and this is precisely what this villa has to offer. I never got tired of the view as we drove down to the villa entrance, you have to see it for yourself.

The villa was clean, well maintained and the air conditioning in the main bedroom was so welcome, particularly in 2007 when the temperature hit the late 30s and early 40s (we went in August). The accommodation was very spacious, almost too spacious just for 4 but with 2 teenagers space is always welcome. The girls stayed in the Annexe and all the bathrooms were put to good use. I made the downstairs bathroom my own as I relaxed in the bath with the shutters open and glass of wine in hand, idyllic!

Communication with the owners before we went was good and the meet and greet and welcome pack were most appreciated. It was good to know we could call Elaine for assistance if we needed it when we were there.

You would definitely need a car to stay here and whilst it was ok for our teenagers, it wouldn't necessarily be suitable for all teenagers as there is not much to do in the immediate vicinity. For those days you just want to stroll to a local restaurant, Los Limoneros was perfect, the food was good and the staff very friendly. Our favourite restaurant was Los Pasteros, set up in the hills. The food and service was excellent and the views absolutely stunning as the sun set - perfection itself.

We wouldn't hesitate to go back there again. Thanks Lyn for sharing your villa.
