The property is a privately owned, quality, interior designed AIR CONDITIONED, 2 bedroom, 1 1/2 bathroom luxury apartment in Almerimar. The development has been carved into the mountainside, and is the best location in Almerimar. Views from the double terrace are simply stunning - breakfasting here is an experience not to be missed. From mid-June to early September the complex boasts a superb 60m pool with lifeguard, waterfall, children's pool, tennis/basketball courts and play area and showers. Full air conditioning, which many properties do not have, and is a MUST in Summer. The golf course is directly opposite with the beaches, 1100 berth marina and facilities, bars, restaurants just behind. Accommodation is one double bedroom and one twin bedroom with a sofa bed in the lounge, with solid marble floors. There is a fully tiled and fitted bathroom, with a further separate cloakroom, WC and wash basin and fully fitted kitchen. There is a lift and parking on-site. No smokers please.

Almerimar, the resort, is situated just 40 kilometres from the city of Almeria (and Airport) and 192 kilometres east of Malaga. Although centred on its beautiful marina, blue flag beaches and Gary Player golf course, its location constitutes an oasis in the middle of an arid zone of incomparable wild beauty -this is NOT like Benidorm or Torrevieja!! All development is very controlled, mainly low storey only, and the local council is very proud of the town, maintaining clean, palm tree lined streets - many Spanish families holiday here. It is a peaceful location, but still with all necessary facilities available, including a modern hospital and extensive (and cheap!) shopping centre. Granada is about 2 hours drive away and is well worth a visit to experience the Alhambra Palace.As well as the golf course at Almerimar there are 2 further courses within a 20 minute drive and several others further afield. Roquetas is a 20 minute drive, with a large beach and a shopping.

The towns of El Ejido, Mojacar and the City of Almeria are all within easy driving distance, as is the major resort of Roquetas De Mar.

GETTING THERE !: GETTING THERE! Ryanair and Flybe.com fly directly to Almeria Airport, which is a relaxing and very straightforward 25 minute drive down to Almerimar, making this apartment stunning value compared to package deals, with far superior accommodation. Furthermore, flights are available to Malaga via many operators, although the drive is longer @ 3 hours. Car hire can be arranged easily over the internet and vehicles collected directly from any airport and is highly recommended. We have found Carjet.com to offer amongst the best rates on the coast, with a good effecient pick-up service from the Airport, and offering cash on arrival if preferred.

AIR CONDITIONING: The apartment is fitted with a new air conditioning system. During the hot Summer months, the temperatures at night can remain in the 70s - 80s making it very hard to get a good nights sleep, and we would not recommend anyone taking an apartment in Almerimar without this. During our first year of ownership we didn't have it, and it is just too hot to sleep, which really effects the quality of your holiday. +++ Note - many private and commercial apartments in Almerimar/Spain do not have air conditioning !! +++.

Golf Course: The golf course has recently been improved further, and now offers a full 27 holes, providing a great variety of course. There are a couple of very entertaining water hazards for the brave ! (see below) Furthermore, Green fees are cheaper than comparable courses in Spain. Clubs, buggies etc are all available to hire if you do not wish to bring yourown. March - May and Sept/October are ideal times to play, when it is a bit cooler, but still nice and warm. If you want a long weekend or similar, mail me and I will provide you with a price.... There are also a number of other nice courses with half an hour or so of Almerimar.

Ski: During the winter it is possible to stay in Almerimar and ski during the day up at the Sierra Nevada resort. This is about 1 1/2 hours away by car.

Golf: The Gary Player designed Almerimar golf course is the oldest and most mature course in the province of Almería. It was built in 1976 and forms part of a complex which includes other sports facilities and a yachting marina, and is situated between the apartments and the Med. The course consists of 18 holes, 6686 metres, with a par of 72. It features wide fairways flanked by palm trees, which not only provide pleasant shade but also make it more challenging to reach the flag. The greens are wide and fast, protected by large bunkers. A number of the holes are affected by water hazards, which obstruct access to the greens. The locally infamous par-3 12th requires a spectacular shot to carry the ball 100 metres over the water to reach the green, which is located on a small island. It is an appetising round for players of any level, and is soon to be further improved and extended with another 9 holes. It is used by a number of UK teaching professionals as an overseas coaching course. Numerous other courses are also accessible from this apartment - Almeria Province caters well for golfers, with its dry mild winters and a yearly average of 3000 hours of sunshine make the area an excellent choice for year-round golf. There are six other excellent 18 hole courses within an hour's drive. Green fees range depending on time of year; every course offers rental clubs, driving ranges and the services of a professional.
