Studio on Costa de Almeria, Spain: 'La Alameda' is the apartment complex, on the Camina de Calahiguera (the road to the bay of Fig Trees). Located on the ground floor of this small, modern, development built in 2001. Cleverly designed architecturally with open corridors linking to small tiled courtyards, providing lots of shade to enhance the circulation of cool sea breezes, even on the hottest days of midsummer. Enjoys a spacious sunny south-facing terrace where you can top-up your tan even on shorter December days. It's situated a level 200 metre walk to the nearest beach, marina, restaurants (the paellas are a bit special), tapas bars, supermarkets, tourist office and bank. The village has just about everything to make your stay an enjoyable, relaxing experience, a perfect place to chill out. For the golfer there is a real treat. 20min drive from San José will bring you to Alborán Golf, in Retamar: 18 hole, 72 par championship course, with special deals on green fees - real value

San José is at the heart of the marine and land nature reserve that is Cabo de Gata Níjar, which is a truly remarkable place. The spectacular rock formations and unique flora gives it a serene beauty that has to be experienced. A terrain perfectly suited to hill walking and mountain biking. With it's protected status it is a joy to swim in crystal clear waters off some of the finest, safest beaches in all of Spain and with more days of sunshine here than anywhere else in Europe it's a wonderful place to holiday. In Almeria city itself you will find The Alcazaba the Moorish citadel. Within easy reach is the Sierra Nevada, The Alhambra in Granada and many more historical Moorish sites all being part of the rich tapestry that is Andalucia, not forgetting Flamenco music, which as you know has it's roots here. If you can get to the 'Feria' in Almeria you will get a flavour of Spain that will stay long in the memory.

San Jose is a beautiful little resort just 40 minutes drive from Almeria airport. The property is ideally positioned away from the main streets but only a 2 minute walk away from the shops, restaurants and beach.

The property was modern, clean and well maintained. San Jose has everything you need for a relaxing week away with some lovely restaurants overlooking the beach and harbour. A car is recommended to explore the Natural Park and travel further afield.

We love the place and we couldn't have described it better.
We are delighted that he enjoyed his stay and hope that it will be the first of many visits.

Already Missing our Home from Home!

This was our first holiday abroad without our tent, so for us, this appartment was the hight of luxury! Having said that, I don't think anyone could find fault with it. Although compact, the apartment had everything we needed, from a washing machine and iron, (we like to travel light) a delightful patio for leisurely lunches, to extremely comfortable beds. All appliances were modern and in good working order, and the appartment was clean and well maintained.
San Jose is very easy to find your way around. The plaza is only a 2-3 minute walk away, as is the beach. There are many resturants and cafe's in San Jose, most of then geared towards tourism. Our favourites were the bars that were frequented by the locals, were the beer and tapas were good value and delicious!
The local bus to and from Almeria runs a good service and is excellent value for a day out in Almeria. We enjoy walking and found plenty of things of interest to us within a few miles walking distance. However, if you like traveling further afield to visit other points of interest nearby, or you do not enjoy a good walk, then hiring a car would be advisable.
We had a wonderful holiday, and our only complaint would be that it was woefully short. Even the weather which after three glorious days turned unusually wet, windy and somewhat dismal could not spoil our holiday. We would love to come again, hopefully soon!
