The apartments are beautifully furnished with all home comforts, including TV & video, hi-fi with CD player with a selection of CDs, fully equipped kitchens including washing machine, dishwasher, electric hob, microwave with grill and large fridge freezers, heating & air con. The apartments have outside terraces and underground car parking. The Bahia apartment is a two level penthouse on a beach front complex, in Atlanterra which is approx. 1 km from the village of Zahara. This apartment has wonderful sea and countryside views with large terrace areas on both levels, which are ideal for sunbathing. Can also be rented as a 1 bed please enquire for details & prices. Zahara Mar apartment is on a complex in the village of Zahara de los Atunes, perfect location. There is a selection of bars, restaurants and supermarkets all within easy walking distance. This is a class above the usual rental accommodation.

THE BEST ACCOMMODATION IN ZAHARA - This is a luxury 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment on 2 levels. It is situated on a communal complex with pool (Mid June to Mid September) and gardens. There are wonderful views from the front terraces out to sea, and from the top rear terrace over the countryside. You can actually lie in bed of a morning and watch the waves. The outside space is as big as the indoor space, so you will always be able to find a place to catch the sun. It has been fitted with all home comforts, hence there is no need to leave the apartment at all, for the duration of your holiday. Recently fitted air-con and heating is also an added benefit. Restaurants, bars and supermarkets are all within easy walking distance and the beach is a short 2 minute walk through the gardens and pool area. The pool area also has a children’s pool and play area, along with 2 paddle tennis courts. Many guests return year after year, as they cannot find anything to match this wonderful apartment.

Zahara de los Atunes is a fishing village on the Costa de la Luz, 30km north of Tarifa on the Atlantic coast. The village has a large selection of restaurants and bars. The beach stretches from Atlanterra to Barbate, a distance of over 12km. It is wide, bordered by dunes and carpeted with the most wonderful golden sand and is safe to swim. Golf Course - Club de Golf Campo: Club de Golf Campo – San Andres on N340 9 Holes and Driving Range Idyllically meandering its way through the exclusive villas of San Andres, this is the perfect holiday golf course. Wide fairways, short rough and manicured greens, lots of bunkers and the usual “Spanish Style” water hazards, together with its considerable length, makes this course a good challenge for golfers of all standards. Genial, relaxed staff, totally informal dress code, inexpensive green fees and buggy hire make this a must for enthusiasts. Why not take your non-playing partner, he or she can drive the buggy and admire the villas skirting the course, while you spend a pleasant few hours hacking around.

Golf Course - Novo Sancti Petri: Novo Sancti Petri “A” Course – Novo Sancti Petri turnoff from N340 18 holes – Par 72 Meandering Parkland course through pine forested woodland and occasionally affording sea views. Flat course with wide fairways, lined by Spanish pines. Greens that hold and run true, rewarding for straight hitters, but not too punishing for the more wayward amongst us. Like most Spanish courses water hazards play their part, spectacularly so at the par 3, seventh hole, where a solid tee shot is needed to carry what must be 150 meters of water on your way to the green. Club house facilities are first class offering all the usual amenities and extras, with charming pleasant staff. Visitors are made welcome by the relaxed atmosphere which is so difficult to find in the U.K. A great days golf on a Ballesteros designed course, which unlike the courses further up the coast on the Costa del Sol, didn’t break the bank.

Other Activities: nearby Tarifa is famous for its kite- surfing and you can also take a ferry from Tarifa to Tangiers.Bike hire available nearby.

This apartment is possibly one of the few that can be classed as a home from home. From first walking in to the apartment the cleanliness and the level of equipment and furnishings makes you very welcome. This is enhanced by the views from the terraces and the bedroom windows, which are extremely large. This apartment has everything that you could possibly need to enable you to have an enjoyable stay in an outstanding region of Spain. The area is quiet out of the main holiday season, however we found this to be too our advantage needing to wind down from the stresses and strains of the UK. There are plenty of places to visit along the Costa de la Luz, however a car is a necessity. If you need a quick Brit fix then a day trip to Gibraltar will provide you with everything British, but with sunshine. The restaurants in Zahara provide a good to excellent level of food and they have some of the freshest seafoods that we have recently eaten. The owners have spent a great deal of time and effort in providing information on the village of Zahara and the surrounding areas. All in all highly recommended.

We really enyoyed our stay in Zahara.
The appartment was very nice and well equiped including a sunshade and some toys for the sandbox/beach.
Very important for families with young kids.
Everything was fine and very clean.

PS 1: Absolutely must: Visit the restaurant Gaspar. Great service & lunch.
PS 2: Visit Ronda and whale watching in Tarifa.

We have stayed in both of Julie and Steves apartments in Zahara and as usual wasnt disappointed. The sea views from this Penthouse are a treat and the terraces are huge plenty of room to relax in the sun.
Beach, Pool and Gardens all only a 2 minute walk so no need to pile in the car
Apartment well equipped everything you need plus lots of extras to make the trip a real treat.
All in all another fantastic holiday and well worth every penny

Holiday with toddlers

We stayed with our 2 young children (3 years and 18 months) in late October. The apartment was fantastic. Clean, spacious, fabulous views. We particually appreciated all the added extras - CD players in almost every room with a fantastic selection of CDs, DVDs & magazines. Also tucked away in the drawers we found board games, beach toys, first aid kid etc. Julie & Steve have obviously spent a lot of time & effort equiping this apartment to make it as relaxing as possible.
Before arriving I had some concerns about how toddler-friendly a split-level penthouse apartment would be. The apartment worked very well - there is a door at the bottom of the stairs so no concerns about our 18 month old going exploring! The balconies are also very safe. There are shutters in 2 of the bedrooms - fantastic to avoid toddlers rising at dawn! The travel cot provided has a decent mattress (unlike the soggy, lumpy ones often provided in holiday rentals)
The childrens' play area in the complex was very well set up with play area (slide, swings, climbing frame), plenty of flat grassy running around space, fresh water showers, parasols providing shady areas, toilets etc. The pool area was sadly shut off during our stay as we were out of season but looked as if it would be great when open (adult pool & separate children's pool). The nearby beach has acres of golden sands.
The whole complex was extremely quiet as it was off season. This suited us as we were travelling with a large group but you should be prepared to drive into Zahara for shops, cafes etc if staying outside the main summer months. We found all the restaurants and cafes to be extremely child-friendly and welcoming.
All in all we found this to be very well set up & child friendly. We defintely hope to return.

Lovely Atlanterra

My husband, father, son (15 months) and I stayed at 1133 Bahia Del Plata in October 2008 and had a wonderful time. The apartment is exceptionally clean and well-appointed, with no homely detail forgotten. You really feel like a beloved guest!

Atlanterra pretty much closes down in September/October and so restaurants and shops in the immediate vicinity are not abundant. However, Julie and Steve's manual of places to eat etc made it easy to try out places in Zahara - I heartily recommend the Steak Retinto at Gaspar's (in my top 3 fillet steaks of all time).

I would recommend hiring a car, whatever the season - there is lots to see and do locally but the local towns like Canos De Meca, Palmar and Conil are wonderful to visit but a pain in the butt to get to on public transport.

Sadly, the pool area is not open out of season and is chained off from use. This was a shame but totally understandable given how quiet it is after September. Worth baring in mind to book June/July/August if you want some pool action. That said, there is a delightful garden with kiddies play area which separates the complex from the beach. The communal space is very well tended.

The complex was wonderfully quiet in October with us and only 2 other apartments occupied. We had the sunsets all to ourselves and, as I write this, I wish I was back there on that amazing terrace, a glass of Babaradillo in hand, listening the the African swallows going mad as the light falls.

If we were going back to the Costa De La Luz, we would not hesitate to book 1133 again. It is without doubt the best holiday rental I have ever spent time in and I heartily recommend it to anyone looking to spend quality time in the area.

A quick note to parents of young children: Julie made ever effort to cater for our young son and he settled in immediately. If your baby is just walking (as our son was) be sure to bring some reins/harness as the floor is totally tiled (as is typical of properties in hotter climates) and we would have broken our backs on day one without them! If arriving on a Sunday evening, bring some extra nappies with you as you may struggle to acquire them in Zahara on arrival. We had lots of fun with this one!
