In and around Finca Higueron:
It is our desire to give you, as our guests, a holiday that you will remember with fond memories and we are always available to provide information and assistance, during your stay. Finca Higueron is 3KM from the centre of La Muela, where there is a very popular, inexpensive Italian restaurant and Venta Rufino’s provides excellent, low priced food in a local friendly atmosphere. In season fresh homegrown vegetables are available to our guests, who wish to ‘eat in’. There is also more than 100 DVD’s available for in house entertainment; in addition we operate a very popular book swap service. The large garden area is quiet and surrounded by common land that can be explored. As the Finca is on the flight path for birds migrating from Donona Park and Africa, it is ideal for bird watching. There are many different walks nearby and we have mountain bikes, with safety helmets for those who like to explore
Out and about:
There is something to do for everyone in the Costa de la Luz. You can go to a different, sandy beach every day of you holiday. Near to Finca Higueron are historic sites, including the 16 acres of Roman ruins fronting the beach at Bolonia; the little know Palomo Cortija, where pigeons were bred for the Spanish galleons; an old grain water mill that is still worked by local villagers. For nature lovers, there is dolphin and whale watching off Tarifa, or take a trip to one of Europe’s largest wild life parks at Donona or a local bird watching expedition. Locally there are many sporting activities, including four golf courses within a 1/2-hour and eight within an hour’s drive; there is horse riding, scuba diving, surfing, wind surfing, para surfing and also hang gliding from Vejer. Less than an hour away a large aqua-park is open in the summer. Also, through the summer months each town takes it in turn to have a fair and some towns, including Vejer, have a bull run through its streets.
Local towns and cities, away from the country:
Although the southern Costa de la Luz is quiet and unspoilt by tourism, there are a number of white Moorish Spanish towns, with churches, monuments and narrow streets waiting to be explored. Within half an hour of Finca Higueron, are the towns of Vejer, Conil, Medina Sidonia, Benalup and Barbate. A little further away there is Tarifa, at Europe’s most southern point. There are views to Africa (17KM away) over the straights of Gibraltar. To the north the working city of Cadiz, steeped with history, is less than an hour away. It has very few big shops; instead there is a traditional Spanish city centre with churches and historic buildings, a large, busy, fresh meat, fish and vegetable market. Also there is the main port and long sandy beaches, and. For wine trips and tasting, Jerez, Sanlucar and Chipiona make up the world’s sherry triangle. While Seville, the capital of Andalusia and flamenco is a little further north.
