For those looking to give their holiday a golfing theme there are a fine selection of courses within one hours drive.
-- CAMPANO -- This is a 9 hole course with an interesting design. The villa is situated by the ninth green. The clubhouse is 2 minutes walk away.
-- NOVO SANCTI PETRI -- This is a 36 hole, Seve Ballasteros designed complex. The 4 nine hole courses, the sea, the pines, the centre and the new course offer contrasting scenery and a good test of golf. All courses are adjoining so can be played as 9, 18 or 27 hole combinations. The clubhouse is less than 10 minutes drive from the villa.
-- MONTENMEDIO -- For some time this was one of the best kept secrets of this coast. Although now gaining in popularity it is still relatively un-exploited in comparison to any of the courses on the Costa del Sol. This is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty with stunning backdrops on many of the holes. The course is kept in excellent condition and the clubhouse and restaurant are similar to San Roque or Valderrama in style.
There is a 2 hour horse and cart ride available which takes in the beautiful scenery and wildlife. There is also a fantastic pool and sunbathing area by the clubhouse which is sometimes made available for players and their partners particularly if you are dining. It is best to enquire by phone first on the subject as sometimes the area is closed.
Easy to find and only 25 minutes by car.
-- MONTECASTILLO -- This championship golf course has been home to the Volvo Masters for the past 4 years. It is an impressive course with an equally impressive clubhouse and hotel on site. Needless to say this is a tough test of golf.
Located just outside of Jerez, near the race track it is reachable in 45 minutes by car.
-- VISTA HERMOSA -- This is a very pretty nine hole course with a creative design just outside of Puerto Santa Maria. 25 minutes drive.
-- COSTA BALLENA -- This is a newly constructed 27 hole golf course on the coastal road just outside Chipiona. Designed by Jose Maria Olazabal, it opened in 1999 and is already creating quite an interest. Some of the holes have beautiful sea views. The complex is 45 mins
